I can appreciate the comfort of having something that has worked for you.
One of my misgivings with the SRNE inverter is that it isn't sealed. The Amensolar, Megarevo, Sungold inverter is sealed, IP65. When it is mounted in the humid dusty garage in Florida, having the fans not drag moisture...
The demand charge comes about because of how power plants actually work. They can't throttle the plant precisely to meet demand, it just doesn't respond that way. So instead, the generate an excess amount of power and then throttle a load dump, usually a cooling tower or pond. They can...
Ideally, the inverter is powered from the end of the bus bars and the batteries are tied to the bus bar with positive and negative in reverse positions.
Positive: 1 2 3 4 inverter
Negative: 4 3 2 1 inveter
The idea is to balance the current from each battery as much as possible and even small...
This isn't a fake thing, they really mean to do it:

Manual attached.
There are some interesting things in the specs:
Temperature Range
-20°C to 43°C
Enclosure Rating
Do not immerse in water, Outdoor only, IP 67
Do not keep under RH> 90 %...
Sad.
Yes, I can do that.
The issue is that the sub panel is 24 positions and I need all of them, so using two for an inverter back feed breaker hurts a bit. I could use the tandem (2 circuit) breakers, but the existing panel isn't rated for those, so would need to be changed anyway. Or I...
You may have to deal with permits, inspections, etc, for a grid tied system.
Be aware that inverters generate waste heat since they are not 100% efficient. Do you want that heat in that bedroom?
I would tend to favor putting the inverter in the garage. You don't really want the inverter heat...
My (as yet not fully tested) understanding:
The N3H-X10-US (Amensolar) inverter does NOT contain an "over the PV line" transmitter that would operate a Tigo TS4-A-F RSD box. By comparison, I think the EG4 18KPV doe shave this. So the inverter has no built in RSD transmitter function.
The...
In theory, this is possible with active switching elements directing the current and voltage the right way. A set of SCRs with a control circuit to enable their gates would do it.
When AC is positive, U2 and U3 gates are driven, when negative, U1 and U4 are driven. SCRs only conduct in one...
Simplest solution for the people worried about this is to pass the AC through an isolation transformer. If DC appears on the primary, it won't pass to the secondary.
There will be an efficiency hit and a cost.
I would expect an inverter to have a relay that drops out when the output is out of...
Could do that. My settings right now:
I understand anti island (must be on!), leak current, and insulation detect. I can try turning them off and see what happens.
The manual is useless to understand all the left hand side, though, what do they do? I don't have sell enable checked, so I...
Humanity is doomed if we start to trust the output of AI.
I expected to find pods attached to the system with human "batteries" in them, a la Matrix.

He reviewed something that seems clearly related design wise and had lots of trouble with it:
Whether those problems are fixed in newer versions is TBD. I would hope so since the value this could represent is quite high, but I would want others to shake it down before I bought one.

Nothing can be as bad as Square D Trilliant.
That is what is my panel in my house. Yech.
A basic 15 amp breaker is near $100 now.
I may rip it out and replace it with QO some day. When given a choice, QO for me.

I notice the grid and load ground wires are not tied to the PE bus bar but to ring terminals bolted to the enclosure. I think they should be terminated to the PE bus bar. I would not depend on the enclosure to carry earth connections.

All the issues you are discussing are being dealt with in the EV space. There are ways to BMS high voltage packs. There are ways to service them (isolate sections, like RSD in panels). The semiconductor industry is turning out EV electronics at a furious pace, so solar can ride those...
Better documentation leads to less customer support overhead.
I find the ability for companies to precisely, correctly, and thoroughly describe their products is often lacking.
I just got bit by an example of that today. The EG4 indoor wall mount battery is listed in the quick start guide as...
The install is at my parent's house in Sarasota, FL. I am here for the week to do the install mins the roof part (mounts, rails, panels, etc). As it stands now, it is just a big UPS system but that will get them by in case of a power outage. A second EG4 battery will be added to it.
This is...
No battery wires? This is the new "wireless" version?
The battery wires coming out the top didn't seem like a good idea for weather resistance.
Your pictures look like you hunted it down, hung it to butcher it, and mounted it on the wall.

How "far" off grid?
Some possible answers:
1. No grid connection, no backup generator
You will need a big battery and also the ability to, on rare occasions, have no power. North CA is blessed with lots of sun, so this kind of works.
2. No grid connection, backup generator
The generator...
It seems like the ESPHome community is actively working on this based on this thread:
https://github.com/emporia-vue-local/esphome/discussions/264
Based on the progress so far, I think they will get it to work well. The code is unlocked, so it can be changed, and the changes in configuration...
A long twist tie is best since you can wrap it twice around the strands and get a nice circular outcome. Twice around eliminates the pinch point at the twist location.
If you don't have the twist tie, a small gauge wire will work, just don't go to far.
The zip tie will never be quite circular...
Price and quality are only loosely related. Spending more doesn't assure you get more.
The Midnite unit has the perfection of not yet existing. Something as complex as this won't be perfect on first release.
In the "10KW AIO class", I've looked at the following with the best prices I can...
To be exact, the NHX10 *is* an Amensolar N3H-X10-US. The data label on the side will say so.
Denny Wu at Amensolar confirmed he supplies the inverters to Watts247. Whether he makes them or not is another question.
They seem to have Megarevo heritage. Same connector layout, same Wifi module...
I'm surprised that isn't enough to directly control the SSRs and eliminate the failure prone mechanical relay.
Here is an AC SSRs that switches 40 amps and needs 4 volts and 15 mA to turn on:
RSS-TD1A140ZP...
I started out thinking the EG4 18KPV was the unit to get, but then I started seeing these other units in the 10KW AC class like the NHX, Growatt, and Sungold for near $2K and that's very compelling if they work.
They are cheap enough that one could buy two and keep one as a spare, and still be...
They say "ETL listed" which is just as good as "UL listed".
ETL is another mark using a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL), in this case Intertek. It has the same exact legal and technical meaning as "UL listed".
If it is ETL listed, it passed and was certified by a recognized...
Who owns each company?
One entity can own two companies, of course, so the original statement about SS and EG4 being owned by the same person could still be true even if they are completely separate companies legally.

CS6R-395MS-HL is all black, 3 bypass diodes.
You would need to string more in series to elevate voltages. 12 would stay just under 500 volts Voc under really cold conditions. I am using them in 3 x 10 strings.
There's no shame in buying the best and REC panels are very good.
