Well Ben,
I'm looking at having to go through the trouble of trading out one of your EG4-6000EX-48HV units for glitchy firmware and poor communication from the SS side of things. My customer lost patience today and asked me to replace the unit that was to be an upgrade from a couple of Growatt...
They replied back this evening and said they would repair it and ship it back at no charge. It's a disadvantage to them to have an office in my State. They become subject to local rules. Small Claims can't include attorneys and its a short time frame for a court date. They would have to send a...
SGP has responded that they will give a full refund and pay for the return shipping, but only after I remove the review on Amazon and remove this post. The following is my response to SGP
Alisa,
Thank you for wanting to do the right thing in this situation.
With regards to removing the review I...
Except there is nothing to keep them on the path to paying with everything gone. This has been a bit of a clusterfuck from the start with SGP not wanting to step up to the plate.
The drama gets better. After my client confronted them on the $690.00 bill for repair of the unit, They sent pictures back of a unit that was covered in dust from being installed outside and had different internal issues than the one that was sent back. They must be getting a lot of returns and...
Having had some glitchy experience with EG4 I'm a bit reluctant to go back but a pair of the new 6k Luxpower units might be worth a try. Purchased from Current Connected though as Sig Solar has proven to be unreliable as well. Although, I was installing Sol-Arks when they first came out in 2019...
I don't mind sharing at all.
I am an installer but I stopped reselling equipment a couple of years ago. Now I recommend equipment based on the project budget, In this case, the customer couldn't make any headway with SGP. They were taking advantage of him so I intervened. The farther down the...
Edit-- Sungold power has agreed to reimburse my customer. The conversation should continue on that basis.
I installed a SunGoldPower all in one 10k unit for a client here in California after an EG4 fiasco. Everything worked as it was supposed to for around six weeks. Then the inverter shut down...
It's the type of UL (ETL) listing that is important for grid tie. While Samlex and a few others such as Aims and Gaiandel, etc. possess a UL certification, those certifications were intended for mobile applications and are not the same as the UL1741, Rule 21 or Heco. To drill down on this a bit...
Hmmm... While Sol-Ark (Portable Power LLC) may claim ownership of the technology they share with Deye and a few other asian companies, Sol-Ark certainly wasn't the first to use it. A few years back while Portable Power LLC was still fumbling around with separate components mounted on a board...
New update; SunGoldPower has made an offer of refunding $1,000.00 without returning the inverter if I remove the negative review on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R12M6GDL93U1DS/ref=cm_cr_othr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01N0IVZ6Z So now they don't even want to fix the defective...
I've installed a number of Sol-Ark's Something to keep in mind that seems to be a common misconception about them is that the 12k Solark is not 12k. It will reset at about 7.2kw. Other than that they are good units. The oldest install I have is over a year with no glitches. I monitor all of of...
Originally when a query was sent to SGP based on the oil leaking from the bottom of the inverter, they sent a short video back on how to test the transistors (mosfets) where the technician was standing in front of what he was doing. I sent a response back stating that the issue was more than...
Yes I saw that one when it was posted. I hope they do everything Tom Brennen indicates that they are planning. At this point though, it's still a Chinese inverter. The first one I got my hands on in the fall of 2019 was very disappointing just from the aspect that everything about it was...
Currently I am dealing with the not so easy process of shipping back an EG4 8k because of a variety of issues. Since this is a permitted project, I was looking through the certification documentation for the inverter on Sig Solar's website. It appears that they are using the Megarevo...
So the current update is that the have diagnosed the unit as being defective because of dust in the machine and it would cost the customer $690.00 to repair it and then the customer would incur another $160.00 to have the repaired unit shipped back from their facility here in California.
I...
System payback here in California is now quicker without Net Metering. The hoops to jump through have become far too restrictive and complex. Much easier to do a critical load panel with an interlock that is permitted as a standby and then permit for an backup solar. Eazy peazy. Customer usually...
I think the difference with EG4 as compared to Victron or Midnite at least, is that Victron and Midnite don't have any pretense about being grid tie. And they do carry the basic RV type UL listings that have been normal for their industry. I would trust both Victron and Midnite to do what the...
Not terrible as in if totally ignoring were their other option. But if they don't stand behind their equipment and we accept that as normal then the quality doesn't ever get any better because we have just become too complacent to care.
Correct. Short bursts are ok but anything over the 7.2k threshold for a sustained basis will cause the inverter to reset. I have had this happen on three different installs at the same level. I have been through it with tech support at Sol-Ark on more than one occasion. Bottom line is that the...
Battery Evo, Big Battery and Tech Direct Club are all one and the same. Buyer beware. Recently I had a customer purchase a 120ah 48v ( 24v units in series). These supposedly have new A123 LFP cells in them with a 10 year warranty. These batteries were a close match in size and output to the...
Tech support just called me and I have to say it was the best experience I've had to date. We are working through what it may be and he has promised to call back early tomorrow afternoon. I will post the outcome here.
Continuous power means on the input side, DC. You can run 12kw of DC through it to charge batteries and supply AC as well as shoot some power off to the grid in any combination.
On my last install of a 12k, it was tripping regularly at a little over 8kw. Sol-Ark actually was monitoring and contacted me about it. Their recommendation was that I run a second 12k unit in parallel to overcome the problem.
With the new Nem3 there was a reduction in payback by 75%, which wasn't that great to begin with. Also written into the rules was the ability to shut down production when not needed by the utility. While all the soalr hucksters are still promoting free electricity, that is far from the truth...
I've got one on a pallet right now waiting to go back for that very reason plus a few more. It will stay in grid until Grid is disconnected. While I have been through several polite sessions on this issue with SS, I think it's inherent with the machine while it's connected to output 1
Yes I've looked at that. Says it's for the remote panel. Also there are no instructions or available update system that I can see. I can do it on Growatt and MPP but need to wait for some comprehensive instructions. Nothing worse than bricking a controller.
Seems like the simplest way would be to leave the SMA's alone and create a new critical load panel for the items you can power with your LV6548. You can remain grid tied and power your loads independent of the grid until power is needed by the grid. I have set up a number of these and they work...
