  • Post in thread: Pylontech Battery Fault

The battery BMS board (tarjeta de control in Spanish) has been replaced and the battery returned to me and the system is now working again with the two batteries. Since the error previously occurred occasionally in the past with gaps of days or weeks in between we won't know for sure if this...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Alaska project seems pretty adventurous and exciting. I am not sure if I'll be hanging around the forum or not but if I did would be good to see an update.
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Found today some bits of wood lying around from a job last week and they were the precise length of the battery by good luck and even the height was pretty good. So I am copying your idea. :) See photos. PS The batteries are NOT tilted at an angle. They are perfectly level. I must have had the...

That's a lot of panels? So presumably facing close to due south and angled to point more towards the horizon at a low angle. And then for summer the logic I guess is you leave them in the same position which will be a terrible position for summer but doesn´t matter since you get enough solar...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech Battery Fault

6 weeks since the BMS board was replaced; error has not repeated; not even once. Looks likely the correct fix was done. The battery charge levels still go out of alignment by 2% - 5% as before, e.g. one battery might be at 68% and another at 72%. So likely that has nothing to do with the problem.
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Here are the photos of the system. Things are working very well so far.Changing the cables may have been a great idea (thanks!) as there was an error message on the battery on the 1 day they were connected as before and things working well in the 4 days since then. There has not been a power...

3.25kWP Risen panels Batteries: 4.8KWH Utracell sealed Lead acid UCG 100-12 Inverter: Axpert MKS II 5kW Main purpose of this thread will be to discuss how I can determine how much my batteries have degraded as well as discuss why the system occasionally cuts out and needs rebooting. If anyone...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Looks like option 18 killed all sound. The downside is you might not know if there is a fault. So now I've turned off the sound the ignorance of faults could cause damage, problems etc. Also last year I was finding there would be a fault, and the beeping would draw my attention to it, and I...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

In my case, I think if I leave the battery next to the inverter it will basically be the outdoor temperature or maybe 1 or 2 degrees higher because: It is near the far wall of the outside area, not adjoining the house. It is a large area, maybe 3mx7mx2m. The outside area has many air gaps to...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

If the battery is never emptied, I'm guessing that is no issue, if it is rarely below say 40% full, at least at this time of year. Or is there any value to empty occasionally? So the manual says recommended current of 25A and max current of 50-89A@60 sec. However since I have two batteries I...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

So does this look OK: ---if I disconnect the cable I have marked with a green X ---and move that same cable and reconnect to the position I've marked with a green O ---and only change position of one cable; not move any of the other cables at all (might have to move/reconnect the short black...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Are all four black (negative) ports functionally equivalent? i.e. doesn't matter which of any you use for both short and long cable? Any cable to any connection (as long as it's black to black and not black to red of course).
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

Thanks. So do you think it charged to 100% given those readings, as far as you can tell?
  • Post in thread: Pylontech Battery Fault

Update: Pylontech told me to buy a RJ45-DB9-USB cable and rewire it to their instruction. I got a computer shop to do that. This then enabled me to, via a software program and some instructions they sent me, take the logs of data out of the battery and send them to Pylontech, who told me that "I...
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

When my battery actually reaches what I think is now about 87%-90%, it does appear to go into a floating or absorption mode (I am not sure which, and I am still a bit hazy on the difference) and it displays something like 2A and about 100W (I think 108W sometimes), where 108W is related to the...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech Battery Fault

The same error happened so I changed the voltage settings as you suggested: 26 Bulk charging voltage to 51.8V and 27 Floating charging voltage to 51.0V However the same error occurred again a few hours later
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

EDIT: 13th April, 2022: I found out that there is a small button on the cables that you push in to pull the cables out rather than pull them out with force. I contacted my friend who installed the system and he was happy with the suggested change. I have changed the connections as stated, they...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

They were being charged up with solar at the time it went wrong. The only indication of a problem that I noticed was the alarm and lights flashing.
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

    Thanks for that info.
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Yes, there is a circuit breaker, but at some point I'll have a very cloudy day or have to charge the car a large amount in one day or overnight. I guess I can wait until then to find out if this inverter can deal with the switch to grid/utility.
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

Can you clarify what you mean by "this can take a long time". Do you mean that after reaching 90% it would take hours and hours of further charging to reach 100%? Michael, it is already at 60.0V. I have been going up in 0.5V increments. At 56.4V the highest reading was 50.2V, and it was often...
  • Post in thread: Battery Degradation and System Shut Downs

So in October 2020 I measured the amps and voltage with meters with the battery at rest - disconnected from PV and loads - and it was 0.4A and 53.05V and it was stable. This was with a high state of charge. I did the same today and it was 51V and 1.3A. I am not sure if that tells us anything...
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

ok, good to know. thanks. and yes DC current going in to the battery.
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

I have heard numerous people making the argument that induction heaters are miles better than gas for many, many reasons on podcasts and articles. I won´t repeat the arguments as googling it would lead to better results that what I could remember. But it seems that pro-gas arguments are either...
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

Also, we need to keep in mind the possibility that the batteries are now charging to 100% after the recent changes. I don't think this is the case, but it seems plausible. I thought about it and I think logically this could be the case - already reaching 100% - if statement 1 below is true plus...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

So after some delay I got the batteries US2000C x 2 and currently scheduled to be installed Friday. Will be installed with Axpert MKS II 5kW and 3.25kWP Risen panels (10 panels) as mentioned previously. Here are some of the settings as they currently are (majority of the rest are at default...
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

49.7V and 3A was what I saw just now. The load was 280W and the sun is very, very low and is giving less than 200W. Today was a cloudy day so I didn't check if the current to the battery goes down when it appears to be full. Because if it wasn't full it wouldn't be clear if that was simply...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

The pro gas lobby is pretty strong in the US apparently, but glad there isn't any in Spain/Italy. I will give you the advantage of gas being instant. That is certainly true. For boiling water in pans, I try to reduce the climate change by boiling water in a kettle first and then pouring it...
  • Post in thread: Batteries Don´t Charge Beyond 80%

Right, so the more batteries you add you eventually come to the point where the addition of the batteries would not reduce climate change, pollution or environmental impact any further (and could even be worse) because the saved footprint of grid electricity would be no more than the footprint...
  • Post in thread: Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Yes, both 48V. I think the issue of compatibility is whether inverter and battery can communicate. Battery will be easier to install outside since that is where the inverter and the rest of the connections already are. Putting the battery in the office instead would require a hole to be put in...
