If a 'prepper' always has four different ways to make fire, should they not also have four different ways to retire, feed their family, obtain safe water and heat their home? These are the motivations in my life to move beyond relying upon the centralized commercialization of society, to a more self reliant existance shared with my local community. Solar is just one aspect of our journey.

Worked on remote projects across the Canadian Arctic for many years.
For the last 22 years or so, my wife and I have been developing our Homestead where we raise crops, animals our children and now our grandchildren. With Solar, we have finally cut our dependance upon the last 'utility' - we now can grow our food, cut our firewood from our own land, pump our well water, and generate our own electricity to operate it all, independent of all outside sources. It has been a long path to get here.
