Got with supplier. Going to get four more panels to assist in charging. Victron shunt was not configured correctly, as I was looking at wrong numbers.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using a generator to charge batteries on MPP LV6548?

USB, Utility 1st, Solar 2nd, Battery 3rd. If I uderstand your question. That is how the MPP is setup to operate.

Very much like a window AC, in a different case. Mine is 110vac, but recently they have come out with 12vdc systems.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using a generator to charge batteries on MPP LV6548?

Turned out my Generator was at fault. Didn't have a clean output. Bit the bullet, and bought an inverter generator. All is well.

    Ouch

Solar assistant is worth it. Watchpower is a joke. Ian is great, lots of help..
  • Post in thread: High voltage battery arc

Will has a video on YouTube that is 17 minutes, 27 seconds. DIY 13kW 48V Offgrid Solar System: How to build it from scratch! The exact system I just bought. Will shows using a power resistor crossing the 150a switchable fuse as to prevent the arc of the connection. Reviewing his video, he...

True, MPP communication, but, here comes the but, want a BMS to replace the BMS in the 48v Husky BigBattery
  • Post in thread: Curious if there is a need for 3 BigBatteries out there

Interesting thought. I have had problems with their BMS in the bigbattery. Is it just a direct swap that you know of? Thanks for responding.
  • Post in thread: Bad Battery?

Like your idea about float. The Outfit I bought the system said to use 58.4v. I questioned them on that, and three different support techs said to use the 58v value. I have always questioned that, and never had a good response from them. I believe your assessment about float, and will lower it...
  • Post in thread: Bad Battery?

Anyone have any thoughts on how to determine a Bad Battery? Or bad cells? Three nights in a row, about two weeks ago, my system died. Two MPP's LV6548. Three Husky Big Batteries (48v), Battery SOC was around 70%, and dropped to 10% SOC in less than an hour. My only diagnostic is Solar...
  • Post in thread: Curious if there is a need for 3 BigBatteries out there

I sent them a request about them. Thanks
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

Good info. Thanks. I have 4 330W panels on the way. Hope that helps towards charging the batteries better. Think that mine runs out at the 4am mark too.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using a generator to charge batteries on MPP LV6548?

Tried both ways. With it on, and batteries are below 44vdc, the inverter shuts down. Not off. or standby. Apply AC. and MPP's just flash like resetting. From standby mode, the AC does not connect. Just flashed 120 on each leg L1 and L2, but does not hold so it will charge batteries.
  • Post in thread: High voltage battery arc

My batteries each have a power switch. But I still want an inline disconnect also. Good point.
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

Bought two 6500w MPP 6548 inverters. 12 TrinaSolar 330W panels, and three 48v BigBatteries each 103Ah. Original plan was to power two campers off grid, One 50A the other 30A. Was told this system would be enough. Problem I have run into is lost power to the 30A camper, which is the only one...
  • Post in thread: New build

Tried to call supplier. but phone issues out west are not allowing calls through. Just purchased 13K system with 3960W of panels. Asked about adding a Victron Shunt, but they never responded. I see a 500A and a 1000A shunt. I am leaning toward the 1000A shunt. Which shunt do you recommend? In...
  • Post in thread: Using a generator to charge backup battery?

Is this a split phase system? L1 L2 stuff? My nightmare is the Neutral Ground connection. I tried to run backup generator here in Florida (Ian), and it failed. Make sure if split phase that the N/G connection will work with your Solar, and generator. Support is hard to find, and that Value...
  • Post in thread: Clueless Smart guy

I have watched many of his videos. He even had one where he used an app on his phone to communicate with the BMS on a BigBattery. Only thing I could think of was it was an earlier Husky battery that allowed BMS communication.
  • Post in thread: Clueless Smart guy

Have no idea about the health of the battery. Not to mention the temperature. The BMS that BB uses is for itself and no one else.
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

Forgot to mention, had an 04 Fault (low voltage shuts off at 44vdc). That shutdown the system, but still allows Solar charging. Still trying to find an Analog AC Clock. As I want to plug it into the RV to find out when 04 happens.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using a generator to charge batteries on MPP LV6548?

Loads connected to AC output of the MPP's. The input is Utility 1st, Solar 2nd, Battery 3rd. I am attempting to put AC to the input of each of the two MPP's. So that way it will charge the batteries.
  • Post in thread: New build

Have 3 48v LifeP04 batteries. When time allows, want another battery. Looking at 12,000w that I hope is max. Running my camper. And small cooler trailer. Horsefly.. Funny till they bite you..
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

As far as bulk, just going by what the battery manufacture has written on the label. Will look at your idea of half a volt though. I am at .8 lower now. Not sure about their advice either. But I feel they need to have a chance to explain their system. Didn't think that 44vdc was fully...
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

Allot of good information here. Thanks for all the responses. Gives me allot to think about.
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

Yes, I have, but I wanted a dual zone system. When I saw the pricing, I stopped looking.
  • Post in thread: How to properly ground off grid solar system

I have two separate groundings. My panels are connected to a pair of 8' copper rods, 8' apart. My inverters are grounded with a separate set of 8' ground rods, 8' apart. All the information I have found is why I have two separate groundings. The mention of connecting a ground to neutral opens...
  • Post in thread: Thought I had enough power

    Little over 15Kwh
  • Post in thread: Clueless Smart guy

I have their smart shunt, that's all. But that is only Bluetooth range for me. I want a BMS that communicated with my Inverter, and then I can remotely monitor my system from anywhere using SolarAssistant.
  • Post in thread: New build

1/0 from batteries, 4/0 out from the inverters. Have 250A fuses to each inverter, but thought the 1000A would be safe, as I am interested in enlarging my system. Thanks for the update.
