That's right, similar products exist already in other markets. But they are expensive and not very efficient because they rely on the inverter. Hours of operation can be extended by the 12V DC air conditioner.

12V/24V model exists in the market. I think @gnubie made a right point about world market. However, that is not the case for US market. Of course, it is a number game and I'm new to HVAC business. SEER depends on the test condition and 12V DC air conditioner uses VFD technology so it is complicated. I would rather give a metric based on how many hours of operation can be maintained at standard test condition.

Think a black box. Let’s apply a thermodynamic steady state. Set the outside temperature at 100F and target is to keep inside temperature at 70F. Then we can measure how many hours the air conditioner can maintain 70F for a given battery power. I would call it a standard test condition.

Mini-split type air conditioner can be installed on a mobile hand cart with 12V battery. It is definitely DIY project good for the beginner.

If you need to power up a medical device like CPAP, you need to carry a reliable power source like a diesel generator. As for waterproof battery box, consider XT90 connectors through the pelican case.

Solar cell is nothing but battery. Parallel connection adds current and series connection adds voltage. Different size solar panels around the same voltage can be better matched in parallel connection to get the most of power. It could have been interesting to measure the voltages at each panels ;)

That's right, inverter style air conditioner relies on the variable frequency drive technology. Since the most vehicles run on 12V DC battery here in US, we need a 12V DC air conditioner.
