  • Post in thread: Raspberry Pi not showing MPPT

That was the solution- MPPT setting- TX port function to normal communication. The neat part was that I got the drive around all day and could watch the battery being charged on VRM. Now, I'll be able to see the PV charging too. This is really a great system. Rsp was SO easy to set up and...
  • Post in thread: What happened to the 24v DIY system web page?

Well, here, let me explain why I got BB batteries. In my situation BB were the best choice considering how long they're expected to last, given proper care, reliability and safety considerations. Yes, FLA, AGM are cheaper but considering how many I'd go through over the estimated system...
  • Post in thread: "Ukraine's Nazi problem is real, even if Putin's 'denazification' claim isn't"

Let's be realistic. Most people can't locate their precious Ukraine on a map. At my age I've seen way too many foreign military adventures of the US that were never sanctioned by a declaration of war and are therefore illegal. And those that fought them died for a lie. What business do the...
  • Post in thread: Voltage at panels in darkness?

Quite pleased to report that Battle Born sent a new 150/60-TR SCC which when installed works as designed. Only about 1/2v at night because of, probably, lights shining on the panels. All is well with my world...
  • Post in thread: Voltage at panels in darkness?

Victron Forum replied that detecting voltage at the PV terminals with the PV wires disconnected indicates a faulty mppt.
  • Post in thread: What happened to the 24v DIY system web page?

No, I wasn't kidding but wish I were. Battle Born batteries (2) which I in no way regret purchasing cost $1,500, the panels (10- 225w panels) from ebay cost $880, MPPT, BMV-715, Victron Blue Smart Charger, Inverter, wire, circuit breakers, combiner box, rack system (Unistrut ground mount) bus...
  • Post in thread: The Real Reason LA port is backed up

Yeah, "pandemic"....I love that excuse for shipping problems and everything else. Some sickness with a 99.8% recovery rate isn't a pandemic....it's a scam-demic and this nation has turned into the nation of Howard Hughes- germ-a-phobics. I've heard that things have gotten so bad that the bums...
  • Post in thread: Stop multiplus from charging during the night

The result- success. I shouldn't work with computers late at night. I run Debian with Windows in Virtualbox. VictronConnect was installed in Virtualbox, hooked up the Mk3 to it and all of the settings appeared. Backed up the current settings- Easily updated the M+ to v506 It took awhile...

    Oh....well....here's the video- https://www.currentconnected.com/product/victron-battery-balancer/
  • Post in thread: DIY Transfer switch

It like to make or maybe purchase a transfer switch so I can, obviously, manually quickly switch between solar (inverter) and grid and not have to shut down the appliance or device that's being used. I figure if I flip the switch fast enough there wont be any loss of power to the device. For...
  • Post in thread: Victron MPPT 150/60 settings for 24v system?

My 1kw 24v PV system became operational today. So far there have been no problems and I'm amazed how well the Victron controller works. The mppt is charging two Battle Born 12v-100ah batteries in series making it a 24v 100ah system. I don't know that exact settings that should be used on the...
  • Post in thread: Full Sun but not full power?

    Ok....will do. Thanks
  • Post in thread: Grounding- no idea what they're talking about!

Phew....NOW I think I understand it all. It's been frustrating as the manual Victron covers so many different possibilities and the youtube clowns show you how they blew up their MP or some other nonsense. Youtube, in these matters, is a VERY bad place to learn complex (or simple) wiring. Most...
  • Post in thread: Stop multiplus from charging during the night

I clamped my ammeter onto the #2 cable between the Multi and the batteries then did the math. It's not a consistent 5w- sometimes it jumps to about 9w. Today it's cloudy, heavy cloud cover and rainy so the SCC isn't producing.
  • Post in thread: Cerbo/Venus/Rsp Pi dropping connection solution

No pictures. Too lazy. Just sloppily wrap some aluminum foil around the first couple of inches of the USB portion of the connector- that's where the fancy electronics are located or somethin' like that. As to "Tin foil hatters".....I used to laugh at that notion. Now, with the wretched...
  • Post in thread: Disconnect batteries and Multiplus goes nuts...sort of

The world exists in absolutes. Variables are for those attempting to talk their way out of the trouble and consequences they got themselves into.
  • Post in thread: Battery Balancer by Victron

Tim...didn't you make a video about that? I watched it. Thanks. As before I'm really tired of having to balance the batteries once per month. The entire system has to be shut down, the AC lines from the M+ placed into grid outlets (not fed from the M+) and then balance each battery. Tired...
  • Post in thread: Almost blown up a new Victron MPPT 75/15 charge controller!!

The Victron document is excellent. Thanks for listing it.
  • Post in thread: 24v inverter recommendations

Batteries, in my life, are the weak link in all that I have ever done. Dead batteries are the sad commentary of my life. That said, I'm satisfied with my decisions and any loads that the batteries or inverter will be subject to will be small- probably no more than 400 watts for a short period...
  • Post in thread: Disconnect batteries and Multiplus goes nuts...sort of

That's a good one.... Still married- 25 years . My wife and I are a very good match.
  • Post in thread: How to wire a DC breaker?

I hope that's right. Anyone disagree with that determination?
  • Post in thread: How to wire a DC breaker?

Yes, I did. Say, take a look at this picture. Notice on the + side of the breaker there's a small diagram. That's where I see the diode.
  • Post in thread: Panel tilt

Edited- I'm thinking making a ground mounted tilting array- not a pole mounted system. Here's the simplest site so far- Solar Panel Tilt
  • Post in thread: Multiplus- make it not charge batteries?

The result; Today I configured the Multi for "Prioritize other energy sources" It does exactly what I wanted- stops charging the batteries when set to "On" in VRM. 'Was very much worried of blowing the Multi and myself to smithereans by changing the settings using VE Configure. Man, I wish...
  • Post in thread: How about "Rants" forum?

Rant forums would have massive traffic. First topic would be about stupid time wasting solar youtube videos by theatrical clods with cameras on a stick showing the most important thing to them- their face, and how they can only express themselves using their hands. "Don't forget to...
  • Post in thread: Easy way to increase PV daily yield

This is supposed to be funny. I've found a simple way to double the PV daily yield of my array which is 2 kW. Usually, the array only produces 2 kWh per day. Today, a bright sunny one, produced 4.1 kWh after the minor improvements which I describe below. The following method is thoroughly...
  • Post in thread: MPPT and bus bars in steel cabinet?

I was just looking at the Forum "Up in Smoke" and alot of those posts were very informative. It's resolved I'll put the controls and bus bars into a steel cabinet with some venting as needed and a fan, maybe, to help things cool. That all being said....there's a lot of comments in the Smoke...
  • Post in thread: Multiplus- make it not charge batteries?

That's what I'm now planning on. 2kW was fine for a start and got great experience in the process. More power.
