I like every reply in this thread no matter if it is “works great!” - “doesn’t work”
it lets me evaluate my systems vs. uses
Yesterday it hit 105* outside of Sonora, Ca from 3-6PM. We ran the 4000w Onan for most of those hours to provide 1400 -1500 watts (plus surge) to the typical Dometic...
They make great awnings. This is a 200 watt on it's own SCC
It's half the size and weight of what you are thinking at just 25lbs. I can handle it ok to swing it up, but to swing 25lbs above level on the end of a stick is a little bit of a handful. I do it all the time but I'm not sure I would...
yes; side facing forward is what I am thinking. As I said, I would put a “spoiler“ in front of if like I have in front of my solar. We are on thr road and I am a tech idiot so I cant post pics of what I have already done-
Also if the $900 Alibaba 24 volt unit I have found will work, it is 8500...
Input incoming
I have probably 50 hours of research into these units and project manage in the building trades so I have seen many of these units go in and work with the techs that install them.
First problem with all of the units you have brought up is that they all run on 230 volt a new...
As the title says, I'm working towards putting a second battery system in my RV gearing it towards boondocking. I would like to get rid of the generator (haven't used it in two years now) yet would still like to run a LITTLE bit of air conditioning. I know that I will still have to plug in now...
Do you have inverters in both vehicles? If you do you could run the smaller AC wiring between them and power battery chargers from the inverters. Losses sure, but easy wiring and programing.
Just another option
Between the panel hinges and the brace supports, There are 18- #12 Stainless sheet metal screws through the fiberglass body. I placed a like sized 10 gauge metal plate on the inside of the body and screwed through all..
There is metal framing in there but just not where i needed. The hinge...
I went with three charge contollers to handle my 800 watts of panels. 200/200/400 and due to shading and the differing orientations, you can definitely see the differance in output at different times of day. I'm sure my total harvest is better than if I had put them all one one SCC
I don't tilt my roof mounts but do have one panel that I can tilt for better aim
It is also deployable by removing two pivot bolts and adding an extension cable
I guess it is sinking in a bit for me. The 1S is just to describe that you only have one string of five.
but if it is to be shorthand, in your example, wouldn’t 5P be shorter?
That’s fine as long as all the math is included but several I have read or seen have stated draw with solar on and left out gain
I like the idea of a shunt or meter on the AC circuit itself so we could see JUST what it is drawing.
Everyone’s inverter and balance of system is different with...
I guess’s no one including myself who replied to thi thread really addressed your real question about one battery or two? ONE!,, always build the biggest battery you can to account for a possible high load.
my six 100 AhH LiFeP04 are in 3P2P configuration. Each 3P have their own disconnect...
Battery to battery charger . Chassis to House charging going down the road. A little harder for you with having to run large wire to trailer but doable
With a small (400 watt?} inverter you should be fine. My system is a little bigger than yours, 300Ah batteries, 800 watts panels, 2000 watt inverter, but I was able to do an experiment a couple weeks ago.
A couple camping next to us had two of the Rad bikes. They have a 48V 14Ah battery., I...
I have melted the twist lock style in your first two links (don't know what brand they were). I think caused by the previous owners not locking them in place. Also have worked in construction for 45 years and have seen it there running big compressors and high HP saws.
I really want to try the...
I can't say for sure. Looks like you could swing it around and test it out.
My system is on a roof that slopes off to each side but much less than your positioning. I do though have the A/C very close and an antenna that shadows. I did two series on each side but used two smaller charge...
