looks like granulated garlic to me? Nice the label maker idea might help. I've had to label almost all the wiring under the dash in my RV. Wife let a rescue squirrel loose ti get exercise and the other just es-cop-aaad for a few days. They apparently enjoy a diet of wire insulation and...
  • Post in thread: Volume vs. Capacity

Another little mentioned benefit with LFP batteries is they charge very fast compared to AGM/LA batteries. That means if you need to charge using the generator if solar isn't up to it that day. I read somewhere that a 225AH LA battery takes a good 36hrs (depending on how much charge current...
  • Post in thread: JB Weld versus Loctite for grubscrews

KK, gottcha!! Salvaging the threads is for sure a tough one and yup a more permanent product is def needed. I mentioned just a drop because it will still hold but also be easier to break loose should you ever need to remove it. Also it should interfere less with conduction? I don't know about...
  • Post in thread: I'm dazed and confused and can use some inverter assistance...

thank you for the info...nice to know about the longevity. I sense that all of them will be pretty much simply fine like most of the less spendy product. I mean we have to face it they are all made in China which can be good or bad. It's the brand's support from the company that matters. I...
  • Post in thread: JB Weld versus Loctite for grubscrews

just a thought....have you considered installing studs rather than bolts? if they get permanently secured you can then have lots of freedom should you ever end up needing detach a cable. I know you mention you are doing a permanent install I'm just thinking aloud here based on my past...
  • Post in thread: Xuba Electronics: DEAL - 280AH LiFePo4 cells. Purchase & Review

nope, why not just use the surplus sulfuric acid from inside one of the wet cell batteries you are replacing. That should do a nice job on surface removal...err, surface prep... :p
  • Post in thread: Shenzhen Luyuan Technology Co., Ltd. Discussion Thread

That's exactly how they work in China selling stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary ...never thought of using the insurance agent analogy to explain it so thanks. I've actually always had great experiences dealing directly with sellers in China...but hat was over 20yrs ago now and times...
  • Post in thread: I'm dazed and confused and can use some inverter assistance...

I'm in a paralysis by analysis condition right now and could really use advice. I promise I won't come burn down your barn if I make the wrong choice. ;) I was not planning to go this way right now and had budgeted and spec'd out my system from a bank of 4 280ah LFP's (24v setup of...
  • Post in thread: Would you pay a $700 for 4 tested 280Ah lifePo4 cells that could be delivered to CONUS within 1 week?

That's w/o a doubt a big consideration. I dealt direct with Chinese motherboard and hardware mfg's for close to 20yrs. Haven't in a good decade so things have changed. Looking at Alibaba as a place to buy doesn't create a comfy sensation, even worse than eBay. There is a lot of value to...
  • Post in thread: Label Maker

damn YOU! Now i have label maker envy! I bought the handheld Brother PTH-110. it's a bit more compact when I'm tracing lines under the RV. Just thought it was more convenient size. It does a good job in that respect. Mine has been a gift from the gods for my project figuring pretty much...
  • Post in thread: I need someone who really knows about data plans. We have one here?

Suggestion is GoogleFi if you have access in your area. I think it's as close to pay for what you use bandwidth. I wouldn't ignore the monthly prepaid options as they could well be less costly than metered option. Unfortunately Verizon killed their Mifi Jetpack Prepaid deal at $65/mo. I'm...

PDAnet is really worth it if your tethering LTE speed limit isn't enough. I actually run it on my PC. i host using Windows WIFI sharing (quirky for sure). I run PDAnet, to host the actual tethering, on android phone. Then the PC version and FoxFi license app on the PC. All my TV's, tablets...

hehehe, yeah that sounds pretty true for sure!! :D

oh I'm sorry I read too quickly...oops!! I do that once in a while...you logic makes total sense...
  • Post in thread: I need someone who really knows about data plans. We have one here?

There was a great plan via Verizon that ended that latter part of last year. $65 pre-paid you could pay for when needed then not use amd not pay again until you did. My service has been with Metro for over 12yrs now. Been a customer before the T-mobile acquisition even. Anyway, they have...
  • Post in thread: Xuba Electronics: DEAL - 280AH LiFePo4 cells. Purchase & Review

Hi all...i mostly lurk around here ...trying to absorb the experiences everyone shares. I just wanted to say this thread has helped me get a grasp of how dealing with Chinese companies works these days. In another life I dealt wit several companies in China sourcing computer hardware. Made...
  • Post in thread: Xuba Electronics: DEAL - 280AH LiFePo4 cells. Purchase & Review

It's not at all uncommon for sellers in China to be in a room with a few dozen other "companies" with one at each desk. Lots for them actually sell under several names. This is just good business for them and it's nothing underhanded or whatever. It was like that over 20yrs ago and no reason...
  • Post in thread: Xuba Electronics: Payment

regarding your comment about ebay...it's wrong wrong. eBay handles none of the funds. Typically they go straight to the seller's PayPal account. If the seller is fully vetted by PP then the funds are immediately available to seller.
  • Post in thread: Xuba Electronics: Payment

gotcha, my head brain sometimes types very odd details without permission too! hahaha, have a fun weekend.
  • Post in thread: Incrementally adding DC batteries

That makes sense. What brands currently viewed as lower end (just perception due to lack of familiarity) change cell suppliers? By the logic ya showed, is it possible there could be a significant difference in IR between the of cells used to build a battery? So maybe a batch from February...
  • Post in thread: Very DUMB battery question

I'm sorry but anything electrical seems to require a degree in engineering...plus I suck at physics (actually have degree in mathematics, go figure..hahaha) OK, question is about 12v vs 24v and I just need clarification. If I have two 12v 100Ah batteries in parallel giving me 200Ah I get the...
  • Post in thread: Very DUMB battery question

Thanks a bunch! Funny about the question thing...first thing my first semester chem professor taught the class was that the most important and valuable thing we will learn in college was to say "...I dunno..." then find the answers to what is unclear or you don't know. And not worried about...
  • Post in thread: XUBA: How do they do it?

very sweet deal...that's exactly my plan. I just haven't pulled that trigger just yet. Of course there are the other components like a BMS to keep batteries safe, I guess only the charge controller is what's missing from the BB's? Still that's basically 6 BB's for maybe $1200 after adding the...
  • Post in thread: Very DUMB battery question

RIGHT ON! Those are Will's videos I was trying to find...they're going to be a good reference for me. I get the wiring no problem but when I read explanations from electricians they all seem to wander OT into some sorts of arguments which bring in tech details far beyond us mere mortals...
  • Post in thread: Anyone test out the Shenzhen XUBA 300ah Cells?

He all...I am days away from finally grabbing 8 280ah cells and just saw they are also lisitng Xuba Catl 3.2v300ah Lifepo4 Lithium Battery 12v48v60v96v Solar System - Buy Lithium Battery,3.2v,300ah cells for just a bit more. My first thoughts are they might just be 280ah cells with a...
  • Post in thread: Need Help Please.

Gas for $1.65...I hate you!! hahahaha...we're at $3.03 right now in CA Central Coast area. It can get a LOT higher in SF or LA. It's one reason I am leaving CA even being native born here 50-mumble years ago. Plus it's time to travel and explore this damned country a bit more. My solar plan...
  • Post in thread: I'm dazed and confused and can use some inverter assistance...

decided on the GoWISE PS1006 due to the ability to wire in a receptacle, 20A if I recall or was it 15A. It has a wired remote so that should get me enough to actually install a 2nd so I have one in the bedroom and on in the kitchen for those cold nights when I don't want to get out from under...

Howdy...am I late to this party? I am actually in a bit of a bind as my house batteries in the RV have pretty much gone tits-up about 7-months early for my plan and planned budget...sigh, it's always like that right? ;) Wanting just four of them for now. I've been looking at some Valence...

  • Post in thread: DIY YouTube Series: Upgrading my RV with LiFePO4, Solar Panels, Inverters, & More!

oh FUN....I'm kind of being forced to start my upgrade in my rig so will definitely for to school on your work....my T-105's have pretty much become boat anchors with maybe 80Ah left between the two of them. Can't complain because I beat the heck out of them over the past 4.5yrs. It's just...
