my system is small and mostly simple. i do not go that in depth to record stats and check against specs. i did determine running the fridge freezer would require 3 batteries and that seemed to work out well. now i am researching 6 volt batteries which are heavier but true deep cycle. i am also...
thank you Tim !!! got one coming. this solves for the negative side. i am coming up with no more than 40 max amps for all demand components. if i throw a 50 amp fuse on the positive side and have inline fuses on each individual component i should be good right ? theoretically ? haha
I called renogy. My options are a second suitcase of 200 watt panels giving me 2kwh per day total or a single 320 watt panel increasing my output to 2.6kwh per day. I was thinking about going with the chin 300ah heated with bms. I have to look at the chin specs again but wanted to see what those...
i get it. just dont know how reliable any lithium variety will be where you get winter conditions 6 months a year. that is why i am leaning in the 6 volt direction
i have three 12 volt lead acid batteries in parallel with 200 watt renogy solar panels with supplied charge controller. i have fuses on all components directly wired to batteries. they run fridge/freezer, water pump, lights, propane heater and a 2k inverter. when i first started using the system...
i didnt really want to add weight as my trailer is already over 4k lbs but what is another 60 lbs ? haha. sounds like i would be running them both in series and in parallel to keep my 12 volt system. i think i would also have to daisy chain more panels too.
so what i am getting from all of your valuable and greatly appreciated responses is that i should upgrade my scc to 30 amp so i can have 400 watts of panels. get 200 watts more in panels. get 4 6volt costco batteries and go through my system much closer so i know what my actual usage is and...
i am using the dometic cfx3 95 dz fridge/freezer and the only specs i am coming up with is 10.4 amps using the dc adapter. i am curious if anyone else is using this model and if they gone through the process of determining actual wattage for 24 hour daily use with smaller side set to freezer and...
just ordered the chin 300ah with bluetooth and bms today. tomorrow i call renogy for the rest. i think it will really help me understand the system better once i see how everything works. thanks !
I forgot to mention if I get the second suitcase I would get the 30amp mppt and wire the panels in parallel. If I get the 320 watt panel I will get the 40amp mppt and wire in series. both will have Bluetooth and renogy sells the y adapters so i will be able to monitor much more info and have a...
good afternoon fellow off gridders ! upgrading my primitive lead acid system with new technology. i will install a new Chin 12v 300ah LiFePo4 battery with heater and bms, add an additional 200 watts of solar panels in parallel for 400 watts of solar (2 Renogy portable solar suitcases) and...
Hello again, i have a victron 500amp smart shunt inline with my one and only chins 12v 300ah LiFePo4 and am getting the midpoint voltage alert. i also have a bluetooth battery monitor that says the 4 cells voltages are 3.324,3.322, 3.330 and 3.326. i believe the midpoint voltage alarm is to...
so your quick math tells me i really have no choice other than to go with heated LiFePo4's, store them for the winter, get another set of panels, a new 30amp scc that records all my usage so i can get real time data and become a guru at this. haha
so after some research i have figured out i need to spend more than 14 bucks on an isolator switch before it fries a 1400 dollar battery. i live my life learning most everything the hard way. could be worse. i could stop learning...
Good morning ! i just hooked up the chin LiFePo4 with the 40amp scc and it is charging slowly, but still waiting on parts to parallel panels. before i hook up the 7 pin i have been doing some research, but as usual my situation varies slightly. my truck came from the factory with a dual...
well, i can tell you the proper way to isolate your battery from your system is to use a shunt on the negative side and a positive only isolator switch on the positive side. i bought a cheap switch with no directions and only a + - sticker on it. never again.
yes, i put my solar panels on for it. i read in the owners manual the bms will reset if the power is completely drained so i am running my fridge without any charging for the time being. i sent an email to chin too. waiting for a response. thank you !
my renogy rover 40 amp scc has a load input so it can monitor the dc load placed on the battery however, it has a max of 20 amps. i noticed when i first started up my fridge after being off a day or two it was pulling 10 amps and 300 watts all by itself. my goal was to be able to monitor and...
