I have been building my solar system using my shop as a test bed for 4 years now. I just purchased a 40 acre inholding in a national forest, on a river and is 3 miles from the nearest power pole. Fully wooded and about to get the septic and well dug. Clearing 4 acres for solar and cottage. This...
I'm in agreement on the price. There needs to be a lower entry point.
I have a commute less than one mile and drive 200 miles in a single day, maybe twice a year. I'm not against EV at all, but how about a simple concept with normal door handles, isn't connected to the cloud and has heat and...
I ordered 8 280ah EVE cells with the welded terminals from her yesterday. She was responding very quickly to all my questions and was knowledgeable about what she was selling. I agree that there was no reason to believe anything was not on the up-and-up.
Well, I have been wishing to have 200 kWh of storage. Maybe by 2025, I can dollar cost average down my total capacity. Then I won't feel sick when I calculate my sunk costs!!!
Hello all. I bought Will's book probably close to two years ago and have played around with Solar on a limited scale for a small travel trailer. I'll be moving into a house this spring that has a perfectly sized shed.....Solar shed. I'll be building off my existing panels (10x 100 watt, 12...
I would say if you are in a place you don't require permitting and are wanting DC lighting so you don't have to run the inverter 24/7, then go for it. Problem is those long runs and finding the dc voltage lights you are looking for outside of 12 volt. Definitely need a buck converter like you...
Yep. Get some pics up and specs. Starting small and working your way up is a good way to learn. That is how I did it. Folks on here can give valuable insight.
I think the biggest factor will be geopolitical. Tarrifs, import restrictions and countered export restrictions. I know the powers at be are wanting to go full on green, but as we are seeing now, be prepared for a slow crawl to domestic production, be it the U.S. or Europe or elsewhere. Will it...
This is the first prefab battery that has gotten my attention. I have always built my own 280AH packs, but the water proof- heated option and capacity got my attention. Never cared for 100AH server rack. They didnt offer anything I couldn't easily do myself and save money.
Was going to wait until I bought my house with a solar shed, but I couldn't stand it. Been installing this in my 18 ft travel trailer. Batteries are ready to go, but Growatt is not wall mounted yet.
I have just tested plugging the 30 amp shore power directly into the Growatt with an adapter. I...
I ordered and had delivered 10x370 watt bifacial panels from signature solar. It was delivered by R&L carriers. Driver helped me move the panels to my shop, warned me they would want to fall over immediately when the bands were cut. He helped me cut the bands so I could inspect. I guess it...
I just received 27x395 watt panels. The delivery was canceled for Friday the 8th and rescheduled for Tuesday the 12th. They came straight from Texas to Memphis to Huntsville, but after the schedule change, they visited somewhere in North Carolina and Atlanta. The pallet was heavy. When I...
I got the batteries from Amy that is talked about on this forum a decent bit. I have bought from her before. Shenzhen Luyuan? I think that is right. I actually think they might be a little cheaper now. Bought through Alibaba. I bought the BMSs from overkill solar.
That is what I'm thinking I'll do. I like how my plywood/threaded rod construct works to keep everything secure, but it is a pain to make for just a small 12 volt setup.
I'm currently looking at the two EG4 6500 AIO inverters and I'm trying to decide which one. The 6000 EX-48HV low frequency version seems like the better of the two, but much heavier and higher idle consumption. It has a 6,000 watt rating with 7,500 solar input capacity. The 6500 EX-48 high...
Sorry for the late reply, but that is the one. It still occasionally shuts off, but has never cut off under load. It is stationary, so movement isn't the issue. I think I just got handed a learning experience. Worse case is I cut it open, fix it and just keep the cells out of the case. I'll...
My "magic charger" is the 24 volt growatt that I can series charge quickly with the BMS in place. Then I connect to the bench charger in parallel to top balance. Would take a lot of hours out of this step.
So I upgraded my house battery to 4x100 ah batteries in a 2s2p configuration from a 200ah 12 volt. I had a battery monitor system, which worked well with a 100 amp shunt. I rewired the monitors to the new setup. Old monitors max at 100 amps in settings. New shunt is 300 amps. Voltage is...
My Growatt seems to pull in from the bottom and blows out the top left side. No vent holes on top, which I like so maybe dust doesn't fall though when the fans are off. I will say, when I'm maxing out the mppt or the ac to dc charger, it blows pretty warm.
Are you talking about the original OP? If so, I don't blame him for leaving. I enjoy the forum and knowledge gained here, but am very wary of posting anything, even questions.
I hate to hear you had to get a refund. Does sound odd they did it so quickly. Tells me they never shipped to begin with. I did just get a delivery text, so 47 days from order to delivery. I'm curious about the condition of them. I should know in a couple of hours.
I'm still charging. I figured they were at about 50% since they had weeks to rest before I got them and based it on the voltage. Not a good way to measure, but probably a decent estimate. It may take 9 days to to balance. So, I'm going to hook these up once ready and test. I wonder if I should...
