Or go Freddy Krueger on it. Some shorted layers and let the air in.
  • Post in thread: zinc vs stainless vs galvanized vs aluminum hardware.

Keep in mind that most stainless fasteners have much less strength than a common zinc plated bolt. Using stainless can sometimes be self defeating because you have greatly distanced the metal nobility difference and one will loose. There are several grades of stainless sometimes the weakest in...
  • Post in thread: What’s your daily SOC range?

Looks like I’m replacing my battery meter(Hall effect type) It’s been getting worse. It’s only reasonably accurate if it gets to a full state of charge within a couple days and when it gets hot the voltage is incorrect. It has lots of nice info, pretty colors and…it’s junk. Got another cheapie...
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500 EX Inverter setup issues.

I highly doubt you’ll have a problem even if you started them at exactly the same time. I’m running 23 year old 3 Ton as we speak, no problem. Don’t even think about the coffee maker, microwave and AC at the same time. We can do the dryer and AC, but why push it. All you need to do is turn one...
  • Post in thread: LV6548 turns off after 13 minutes

Do you have it in SBU mode?
  • Post in thread: Why is this wire so hot?

    lol. Yup, that works.
  • Post in thread: Active balancer, make it smart!?

Back when you asked “which is fastest” I didn’t know you were already an expert.

What does the wire resistance say? Screen shot?
  • Post in thread: Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

Thou I like the inverter generator, there is great merit to using a chargerverter. With a chargeverter you don’t have to worry about limiting your pass through current or energy management beyond normal inverter functions. If you use a generator directly to the inverter, you have to be sure you...
  • Post in thread: Sol-Ark 15K Rejected by PG&E in California

The biggest problem with Sol-ark is they probably didn’t know that the string of numbers they got from Pigs Goats & Elephants is an off shore account that needs funding.
  • Post in thread: Solar Assistant croaked?

http://10.0.0.5. The one in the instructions page that work day one. Just a white page appears and the progress bar bottom left just starts and hangs indefinitely
  • Post in thread: How frequently does your solar system need attention?

God how I hate auto correct.
  • Post in thread: Solar Assistant integration of two batteries (two JK BMS)

About to pull my hair out and atomize the SA. I’ve rebooted and still can’t see the two JKs. I can see one inverter and one JK but only two USB’s at a time. Using a power hub + the exact items as needed shown on the SA website. The only thing that works is the emulated bms. If doesn’t give me...
  • Post in thread: LV6548 AC input settings

Hey it does work for 8 places. I’ll probably only use four closest to the wall but two for now. Have to use spacer washers if I don’t put lugs between the buss and post outrigger.

  • Post in thread: Lithium Sulphur battery 5x energy density ???

If that’s the case, then a metal out building with fire zone around it?
  • Post in thread: Solar Assistant not switching to SUB at set battery SOC

Yes you can see both, but SA instructs one inverter. If it’s talking to the wrong one nothing may happen.
  • Post in thread: New Solar Assistant beta 2024-04-05 and stable 2024-01-23 software released

That’s not there. Here’s my screenshot of that complete page. I might be on the update, then again not for my inverter family
  • Post in thread: JK bms is blowing up rs 485 converter

    Did you try a different cable or adapter? I’m running these;
  • Post in thread: Absolute easiest whole house pv+battery support. Is this possible?

Agreed, I like it because it has a lot of the stuff built in you’d otherwise have to have in the periphery. Clean and a money saver. I just don’t know if they have without any question solved 100% zero export.
  • Post in thread: We did a load test on the new EG4 6000EX inverter

Yeah, I know better than to try to start my compressor at high pressure. It’ll trip my breaker till I’ve used it down below 60%. To not know this means not much time around them. My inverters won’t care, plenty of punch.
  • Post in thread: My jk bms just exploded after i enabled charge, and i dont know why. See pictures. i need help

I think you need to watch Andy’s “Off grid garage” early JK bms episodes.
  • Post in thread: Who's is bigger?

Well you got me beat. Obviously, you don’t have cats in that room. Mine are not allowed in the garage either. One hairball is called Chewbacca or Chewy for short, guess why? But I’ve got sticky traps to catch anything that chews out there.
  • Post in thread: Almost seems like its better NOT to have inverter communication?

I’m quite satisfied with my open loop system. I don’t believe I’d be able to do this without the active balancers that I’ve always had in one configuration or another. The time at bulk, absorb, full or whatever you want to call it is not configurable in my AIO, it has its own algorithm which...
  • Post in thread: electrocution on metal roof

It depends how the racking system is designed and code in your area. It may have integrated washers or clamps that bite the panel frames and tie it in. But many don’t so you need the special lugs. The lugs are special because they not only make a good connection but they also have much less...
  • Post in thread: 2023-08-16 Solar Assistant update. But take note.

Lost inverter temperature data on Votronic inverter MPP LV6548. If this is important to you (ME!) don’t update! Edit see below
  • Post in thread: Autonomous SOC control Solar Assistant

    Yup, it did ?
  • Post in thread: So why buy an additional balancer if active balancing is part of bms? This turned into waste of time

It works for some and not for others. It’s dependent upon your pattern of use. If you use some sort of controller to switch on the balancer above 3.42VPC , it’s pretty much guaranteed to work for most applications and you don’t have to wonder if it works for you or if your pattern changes. It’s...
  • Post in thread: Alert when grid fails

My personal problem is I’m an old machinist and past competitive shooter. Can’t hear my phone half the time and bothering the house because I’ve got the tv so loud. Wearing protective hearing/coms at work so the last thing I want in my skull when I get home is more junk lol. My power company...
