  • Post in thread: What Can I personally do to help against climate change?

Which products on the market this ability? I might not be aware of Aussie specific products. Of course you can build this functionality with all kind of home automation stuff (open source or commercially available) but that is already to difficult for most people. Connectivity of PV inverters...
  • Post in thread: Disabling active grid-tied inverters

@zanydroid Inverters like Victron can do some modulation to turn down the power. Any European inverter should comply with this. If you take the bigger Chinese brands (Deye and copies for example) they use the generator port and just turn it off. They have to work globally with anything. But...
  • Post in thread: Low ampere 48v fuses?

Hi all, I have been using Midi, Mega and ANL fuses in the past. However, I sometimes run into the issue I want to power some small 48v load that only consumes something like one or two amps for example. Lets say I would want to fuse it at 5 amps at 48v. Preferably inline fuse, but not a hard...
  • Post in thread: I'm looking for braggin' rights on my 9 year old Lead Acid pickup truck battery.

You are probably right that I should have left it on a trickle charger while in storage. The car itself is the opposite with its 180A alternator.
  • Post in thread: Any inline 48v water heaters?

Hi, for a project I am looking to heat water directly with 48v. With at least a few kilowatts of power. Right now I only see 230v heaters or 12v/24v low power boilers. So it seems to me that I need to make a small box with some 48v heating elements (for example 2 times 1.5kW) and run the water...
  • Post in thread: Rack LFP battery models available in Europe other than Pylontech?

Well yes, what is available are the BYD and Growatt batteries. And some more. They are not server rack batteries, but that is okay. Typically they are offered in Low voltage 48v variant and high voltage variant (basically just going in series) I think, of those the Growatt is the most...
  • Post in thread: Disabling active grid-tied inverters

Well, it is not that hard to find DC contractors for 1000v and way more amps than needed. I think whatever is needed, you need to make it and have it tested/certified. You can find a lot of things, just like these rapid shutdown devices. But they are still intended, just like an AC cutoff, for...
  • Post in thread: FX600 VAWT with SUN-1000G2-WAL-H, not starting

Hi all, Although I don't typically like small wind turbines, I live in a windy place and thought to test one out. I bought a second hand FX-600 Wind turbine which seems at first to work well. It is a sturdy unit and I actually believe the 600 Watt can be achieved. Now, I borrowed one of the...
  • Post in thread: Renogy 2000W inverter and induction cooking

Hi all, I am in Europe, so I want to buy a 12v 2000W Renogy inverter that makes 230v 50Hz. The German Renogy support is not giving any hard answers if I can run an induction cooktop. Not all inverters like that. I want to use a portable induction cooktop of 1000W, and possibly 2000W. Because it...
  • Post in thread: Low ampere 48v fuses?

Thanks. It would do, but I realize I was not completely clear. I should add that I greatly prefer something off the shelf, as in, easy to get in some shop and replace if it is broken. In that sense, a glass fuse would be fine if 250v AC means it will work safely below 60v DC.
  • Post in thread: BMS with built-in relay?

By the way, for each BMS I got a 400A fuse with it (the BMSs are the 200A version). I am unsure why it is, there is no place to mount them. And of course I already planned to have other lower rated fuses anyway.
  • Post in thread: Renogy 2000W inverter and induction cooking

Yes but everything has a price. I have been using Victron as well, in a much larger setup. And it also is not always happy to service my induction cooktop. Yes it always works, but I can notice lights flickering and sometimes the Multiplus is making funny sounds, sometimes disconnecting the AC...
  • Post in thread: Making a pack from 9 year old Winston Thundersky cells

Yes 30kWh (rough estimation) is significant. But it might also be the case that I start using them and quite a lot of them die and it turns out to be more work. I guess I need some kind of single cell tester that is either quick (higher Amps) or cheap (to do more parallel) And I still would...
  • Post in thread: Modbus comms with (Deye) inverter

Has anybody succeeded in setting the grid setpoint? Meaning that you control the amount of energy going through the grid connection? Either exporting or importing, controlled by your own software rather than the working mode of the Deye/Sunsynk/Sol-arl? I read the register list, but I cannot...
  • Post in thread: liquid cooled inverters?

Are there any low-voltage liquid cooled inverters around for 230v? Preferably around 48v DC input. There are several chargers that are liquid cooled, for example EV on board chargers, also for lower voltages. But I only see high voltage DC/AC inverters that are water cooled. If it was...
  • Post in thread: Any inline 48v water heaters?

Hmm, I don't know what shape of elements AC inline water heaters use, but it is a good idea to use that as a base. Eventhough you have to change some controls/relays as well. Having an inline 48v water heater has multiple purposes, also depending on the power. - real time hot water heating...
  • Post in thread: Will, Delta Pro claims you refused to review the new Delta Pro... is this true?

I love the discussion about NMC. I totally agree about choosing LiFePo4 if you have no reason at all to use NMC for its lighter weight and higher density. In fact I have done some NMC projects of which I will do LiFePo4 next time. However, treating NMC like a scary thing is a bit silly when you...
