Solar system to prepare for life after an earthquake

Solar system to prepare for life after an earthquake

I will try to get outside, if I can’t I will try to crawl under the dining room table. I live close enough to the San Andreas fault that my house will probably fall down.

Solar system to prepare for life after an earthquake

They used to recommend to plan to be on your own for up to 3 weeks if the big one hits, water could be contaminated and pipes will get broken anyways so you need lots of water. A travel trailer with solar panels on it would be my preferred option, if an 8.0 hit, I imagine my house would be...

Solar and the Economy Your Thoughts??? Or anything else on your mind!

San Andreas Springs to life, an 8.0 earthquake levels my house, neighbors don’t see any lights, they eat some other neighbors instead.

Solar and the Economy Your Thoughts??? Or anything else on your mind!

You still need batteries, are there any plants for the server rack batteries besides China.

Solar and the Economy Your Thoughts??? Or anything else on your mind!

I have no doubts that having my own power generation will be worth the money, I just hope prices on Solar equipment don’t start rising as U.S. and China relations seem to be heading south.

Commifornia (California), no more than 20KWh of Tesla modules's comrades

He is up in the north east corner of Wyoming. I saw -45 degrees in Northern Minnesota, where I live now we can hit 0 but that is rare, It has been a few years since I have seen much below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Commifornia (California), no more than 20KWh of Tesla modules's comrades

I have a brother who moved to Wyoming, he loves it, he had -32 degree temps this winter, too cold for me. He built an off grid solar house in California and also built one in another country, his Wyoming house is just on the grid because his power is very cheap.

    Acurite Weather Station Solar Charger

My Davis Vantage Pro 2 is 13 years old now, I previously used cheaper brands and never got more than a year or two out of them before they stopped working. I also like that you can repair a Davis station if something does go wrong. My cheaper stations were also not as accurate and the data...

Assuming you pay $0.12/KWh, can you ever come out ahead going full offgrid?

The folks in charge may want a utopia, it seems we’re heading the opposite way to me.

Assuming you pay $0.12/KWh, can you ever come out ahead going full offgrid?

It wasn’t that long ago that my first tier electric rate was 13 cents a kWh, it is now 31 cents a kWh. What do you think is going to happen with electric rates in Texas? If you believe power will always be cheap, well good luck with that, I believe the pain will only get worse.

Assuming you pay $0.12/KWh, can you ever come out ahead going full offgrid?

I live near one of the most famous earthquake faults in the country, we are overdue for a big earthquake. Having electricity if everything is down for awhile is worth it, California electric rates will continue to creep higher and higher so the price of an off grid setup is not that bad compared...

    Surprised by energy usage

I am on SCE, the rate went up here this year due to the increased natural gas price. I can get close to 700 kWh for a month in mild weather, in the summer and winter I use a lot more. SCE is always asking for a rate increase.

    Surprised by energy usage

I am on a tiered system in California, first tier rate is 31 cents a kWh, second tier is 40 cents, never made into third tier myself but I am sure it is painful.

Probably lasts six times as long for one.
