I've never timed them, but they are forced to have a startup delay. If I had to guess I'd say it's probably around a couple of minutes. Maybe contact the mfg of the MI you're intending to use to get more accurate numbers.
For a pool pump that's running for 6 hours straight, it's not much of a...
Is this acceptable for the 200A disconnect (mounted between the meter and SA)?

A long strip of something like this folded over several times ("S" shaped to allow current to flow better) with a hump in the center and drilled at either end might work. Thoughts?

Well I'm glad to see you're having success with 2p! I have a primary spot I can only fit 6-7 of these panels and ideally I'd like to save the other trackers. About the only way to do 6 or 7 panels on that one tracker would be to do 3s2p. That or just use 5 and do 5s. I'd like the voltage to...
No, the statement "Yes, we will frequency shift the AC coupled power when battery SOC reaches the OFF%. Dropping a load will not have any effect as the AC coupled power will either be going toward load or battery, when program allows AC coupled power to flow." was referring to off-grid.
I think I've seen someone post a link for reasonable raceways somewhere here, anybody have a link? I believe they were 10", but folks were shimming them out 1" with success with the 15k.
Has anyone installed a SA w/o using a raceway?
For the OP being fairly far north (CT), I would disagree that 1 axis tilt adjustment isn't worthwhile. Having the ability to go from say 60 degrees in the winter to say 20 degrees in the summer can make a significant difference given how low in the sky the sun is in northerly locations...
Another option is to get them all to something around 3.38V-3.4V so they are mostly full and then build the banks and let an active balancer(s) hooked to your system do the final top balancing in their finial configuration. At least this way they aren't sitting around fully charged and...
Definitely needs rebalancing (consider getting an active balancer?) and you might want to use tined busbars to minimize that corrosion. Liquid tin could also be applied to your existing copper busbars.
What makes me question if it needs to be outside is, killing the disconnect does not disable the inverter or power to the dwelling (assuming the SA is actively working with PV or battery BU), so ER could pull the meter and have the same outcome.
Sunpower 435W panels. As mentioned they have a higher voltage.

I don't think this is the case. They respond to emails and other forms of contact, and they seem eager to take orders (with no mention of delays), but apparently not ship product... Even though they claim to have them in stock and ready to go.
I have a similar arrangement, although only 100A at the meter. I too have started looking at options to add an external disconnect. Ideally I'd like to add a 200A disconnect should I ever want or need to upgrade to a 200A service, and have no interest in going through the hassle of adding a...
Makes sense. And off grid is what I wanted to do with it anyway, but for educational purposes, I did want to know the answer relating to grid tie anyway.
The AI function in GT inverter will disable it once the grid is down either way. Now an hybrid or off-grid inverter OTOH is a real concern if it's somehow able to export to the grid.
I don't think they have a touch screen, or will offer one anytime soon, as changing the screen (to either touch or color) would likely require them to redo their UL submissions. More time and money. IDK where they are pulling that info from, possibly coping it from their competitor(s)?
Interesting discussion. For clarification, yes, I was referring to AC coupled PV input via the GEN port.
The reason I ask this is because it will be a while before my DC PV will be installed. But, I do have access to 300W-2000W of AC coupled PV and 15kWh of batteries almost immediately if I...
Great looking install, and TY for your detailed thoughts!
I agree with you about your concerns with having you info given to China. It's my understanding that SA is actively working on bringing this inhouse domestically. Hopefully this happens within the next year.
I'm pleasantly impressed...
Unless I mis-entered the specs wrong, I got max Voc of 94V at 4F, or around 470V for 5. Still cutting kind of close either way, but if I'm right, it's still under max capacity. And yes well over 3k/tracker, but I guess I fail to completely understand how over paneling a tracker can cause harm...
As much as this inverter would totally send my ROI into the "never paying for itself" zone and being WAY more inverter than I need today (by a lot), I'm seriously considering going this route and just being done with waiting for all the other options either coming to, or on the market, to work...
Carlos, any thoughts on where that fused disconnect between the meter and SA should be located (outside near the meter, or inside the dwelling before the inverter)? The manual doesn't seem to mention this.
Thinking about this more, if anyone has a spare "flexible" busbar (preferably two) that they'd be willing to donate for testing, I'd be happy to put one in the lab and see how much tension is required to stretch it and how much related movement is seen under "x" tension. The tensile strength...
For a 13k system located in CT at say 25, 40, and 65 degree so you can see the difference (especially in the limited solar winter months.

Awesome news Steve, I'm glad to hear you're doing better! Also that nothing was stolen. Are you going to report your trespassing evidence to the police?
I don't doubt it's possible to flow that much if pushed hard enough, but with how much resistance and voltage drop? Silicone is used so the insulation doesn't catch on fire as quickly, the wire is basically the same though. If it were me, I would likely limit the configuration to the generally...
I know going over the max input voltage will do a number on most SCC/inverters, but is the same true for exceeding the max input amperage by say 10%? Does it do major harm, or does the controller just cap the current at the max spec and no harm is done?
