With the cost of a higher end inverter being $600+, I think I'm going to roll the dice and buy another GOWISE, or maybe try a GIANDEL and hope it will last a few years unless anyone has a lead of a good sale going on.
Thinking of what may have contributed to the inverter failure. 1500w...
Correct. Tap into the 12v system same as would be cone on a gas vehicle by adding a fuse to the battery and connecting the DC-DC charger to the fuse. Assuming there is 70 amps going to the battery, I would measure current to confirm this, I should be able to use a Victron 12-12-30 smart...
My part time retirement job has kept me busy the past few days; I just now had the opportunity to make some of what I think are needed changes to the drawing. Correct me where I am wrong.
1) Change positive wire size from 12v battery to Victron from 7 AWG to 6 AWG. Seems 6 is a more common...
Good idea and I have thought of going with two 100ah batteries, I would have to see if SOK would let me make the change since I already prepaid for a backordered 206ah battery.
Reviewing the specks, it appears the 100ah battery is 10.6 x 7.9 x 9.1 and the 206ah battery is 12.9 x 7.9 x 12.3...
78.7 Ah, Victron manual states Charge = Total capacity provided during the recharge stages (Bulk and Absorption). Reviewing all charger settings, I found I inadvertently set the absorption time for 2hr when SOK spec is 1hr, corrected this setting, put the battery back on the charger, no...
Decided to take some current measurements from the Duxtop Model BT-200DZ induction cook top to find out if it pulsated 100% power on and off or actually provided variable power settings. Below are the factory power settings and my results using a clamp meter.
Although I didn't test all 20...
31F degrees here in Layton Utah but I need to restore power so tried the two easiest suggestions first.
1) changed my Victron Orion Smart charger to power supply but charger still would not operate, I did notice that the green light was not illuminated, tried the same thing with my Victron blue...
Attempted to pre-charge the inverter today using the resister shown in the below pic. While holding the positive cable that is connected to the inverter, I held the resister to the cables other end and touched the resister to the battery connection point (Victron lynx distributor hacked with...
I sent an email to SOK this morning asking to change my order from 1, 206ah battery to 2, 100ah batteries. Received a reply back 3 minutes later and after paying the cost difference received notice they would ship today.
Edit.
It is going to be a couple of months before I have the van ready...
The temp just dropped to freezing so I have stopped charging, expected highs for the next few days as around freezing. Heading to Southern California Dec 26, so will continue charging in warmer weather.
Currently on a road trip from North Carolina to California and my batteries have died (current voltage is 4.5v).
Wole up this morning, turned on the coffee maker and went into the store. When I came back had hot coffee but noticed the coffee maker light was off and then discovered all power...
With inverter completely disconnected and measuring no voltage, the resistance at the +/- connections started low and ramped up leveling at 4.23. The GoWise 1500 has a built-in push power button and remote, so I first tested without pressing the power button and then retested after pressing the...
I have purchased a Victron 12-12/30 DC-DC charger for when driving. My intent is to have a shore power option in the event we were to park someplace for a few days.
I have not taken delivery of the sienna but have placed a deposit with a dealer for a factory order, they are telling me 3-4 months lead time.
My plan is to have a electrical design and materials before delivery.
Update.
As I headed south from Northern Utah, temps were above 32f so turned my DC to DC charger on and charged the batteries while driving, batteries charged so I turned the fridge back on and have been charging and using dc power, fridge, lights, water pump, usb ports without any issues.
I...
I randomly checked specifications for a AIMS, Giandel and GOWISE inverter, all have battery low voltage shutdown/under voltage protection of 10 volt +/-. Not sure there is anything in the price range of the above brands with 12 volt protection?
Please take a look at my latest 12v system drawing to assure proper wire sizing, correct type fuses and their amp rating along with anything else you see that may not be acceptable. I have also included my energy audit summary for review.
Not in the drawing but I would like to add a Victron...
Yes, this is my first minivan so I will not compare to previous Sienna generations. My goal is to remove the second-row seats maximizing the interior volume, adding a folding bench/bed.
I paid msrp for the van, no dealer markup and only adds ons were as I requested, spart tire and roof rails.
Please be patient with me as I learn about all of this....
Am I correct to understand that using a larger inverter, example 1500 watt is permissible as long as I monitor battery voltage and assure voltage doesn't drop below 12 volts?
If this is correct I may just go with the 1500 watt inverter.
Not mentioned in the video but can be seen in the YouTube notes he recommends the following copper bar.
1/4" x 3/4" 2/0 wire.
1/4" x 1 1/2" for 4/0 wire.
I'm somewhat confused on sizing wire and fuses for an inverter, example if I were to look for recommendations on a well-known inverter...
I plan to install a Victron IP22 30A battery charger in my van that will be used to provide shore power to two 100ah LiFePO batteries, the charger cables will have an Anderson connector to allow connection of alligator clamps in the event charging a car battery is needed. Charger will hard wire...
@rmaddy
Would it be acceptable to us a 225A class T fuse in place of a 200A? (I am using 1/0 wire). With the supply chain in its current condition I find everyone is out of stock on class T fuse holders that accept up to a 200a fuse, even vendors that say it is in stock are out when called...
Need some help determining correct wire and fuse sizes for a vehicle that will have 2 100ah LiFePO4 batteries wired in parallel and a 1500 watt inverter.
I think I have the math correct for the inverter. Please correct if I am wrong.
1500 watt inverter assuming 90% efficiency
1500/.9=138.8...
Maybe a little over my head here, I believe your recommendation is to connect at the small12v battery and build a house battery system and not to attempt to connect to the 1.9kWh nickel metal hydride battery. Is this correct?
I purchased pure copper wire, insulation rated up to 105ºC but no mention of marine rated.
