I have a few that have failed.
A generic 30amp model, an aims 60A model, both just stopped registering solar input.

And a 30A make sky blue that got exposed to rain and now does nothing.

I would start with opening them up yourself.
Have a look inside, see if you can identify any clear component failures.
It might be as simple as replacing a component (capacitor, MOSFET etc...)

I opened the aims and cheapo ones, didnt see anything burned ot damaged... they just dont work.

The make sky blue one, i opened up, found some corrosion residue, and cleaned it off everywhere i could find, reassembled it and it WORKS!
Now as long as i dont let it get wet again, i should be ok with it.

How old is the Aims? They used to do repairs at the Reno address, i haven't had to send anything back in for about 2 years. Hopefully they are still fixing stuff, worth a call anyways.

The fuy i got it from said they wouldnt touch it, as it was out of warranty.

These days there is never any service information available, no circuit diagrams, the boards use surface mount components that once blown up are impossible to identify. If the board and tracks are badly burned, its never easy to repair around that.

It might take a seriously competent person with all the right test gear and decades of experience, a couple of days to trace out the circuit, figure out from scratch how its all supposed to work, identify and source replacement parts. How much would you charge for two days of solid work ?
Customers seem to think it should be a ten dollar repair.

They are SHOCKED if you tell them its not worth fixing, go out and buy another one.
But that is how it is these days.

Not even the manufacturers do repairs.
If something fails in warranty, the customer gets a brand new replacement, and the faulty unit goes straight into the dumpster without anyone even bothering to open it up. Its just not worth trying to fix a thirty dollar item that sells for maybe $300

Its getting that way with motor vehicles too.
My fuel gauge no longer works, how much to fix it ?
Sorry sir, the problem is the computer chip in your electronic dash has a fault.
$1,800 dollars for a new dash module, and a full day to install it.

Oh its four years old ! Spare parts are no longer available for those older models.
Its certainly different to the old days.

I operate a very small off grid solar business (as a hobby) in northern Michigan. I make sure to support all the products I sell in some fashion. I keep a small inventory and if someone has an issue I can get something going. If one of my customers has a problem, I am on site within a day. Preferably I can just exchange the component for the same one and I sort out warranty on my end so the customer doesn't have to. If i get screwed on a warranty by a manufacturer, I just wont carry them anymore. So far, Renogy is the only one on that list.
