Hi,

I have received this item with my DEYE sun-8k-sg01lp1-eu inverter gear. I am not sure what it is for. Could anyone help?

It is a ferrit core which reduces transient AC on your DC battery cables. In your manual it probable shows how and where to install them.

Thanks for your reply @Ampster. Unfortunately there is no information on the deye manual about this ferrit core. I presume there is only two options to install it around the battery cables. Either closer to the Inverter or closer to the batteries. What's the standard?

Anywhere. Mine are in the middle.

As a practial matter it may depend on where is most practical, as mentioned earlier.
Here is a thread which discusses it in detail:

Best to put it close to the inverter.

The inverter switching noise will induce noise on the cables and the cables act as antennas. Put the ferrite on the cable to provide high frequency isolation between the invert and the cables. This effectively denies the noise an antenna from which to radiate.

Basic rule is that ferrites go close to the noise source.

I agree. I could only fit one in my SolArk 12k but my new install routes each positive and negative cable through 20 inches of 1 inch EMT into a large junction box large enough to loop the cables through the Ferrites before I connect them to the cables from the batteries.
