AntBMS comment on settings

Hi,
I just got my AntBMS set-up after about 2 weeks without one. Can somebody have a look and comment on my settings for 8s 280ah Xuba lifepo4?

Also, is it normal that balancing always seem to be disabled?

Thanks

I haven't received mine yet, but I will be setting it up so I did a bit of research. The first thing that stands out is the settings are programmed for 18650 li ion cells and not Lifepo4 cells! do not use these settings or you will kill your batteries!...

The reason cell balancing is not working is the start voltage is set for it to start at 3.65v (maybe be good for 18650 (actually pretty low as you may have changed it)) but not Lifepo4 batteries. 3.65v is actually the max charge for lifepo4 batteries.

Balancing will not start until the voltage goes above this setting. Look up the youtuber Vortecks, as he describes the settings and what they do. He Makes the VBMS app that communicates with the ANT bms.

Once you understand the settings, you should used the standard Lifep04 battery settings. You can also set to start balancing at lower voltage, in the case you only want to charge/discharge between 20-80% and align that with you charger/inverter. The nice thing about the ANT if you are using an AIO unit, its that it can disconnect the charger, but still discharge through a common port. (ie low voltage disconnect). There are some draw backs to the ANT BMS, I heard only max 50 amps charging current, but for my setup its more then enough

I have attached the EVE spec sheet (while I do not want to debate if they are real eve) that will guide you in the right direction for settings.

thanks Steve,
yes, I already did some modifications, such as max voltage, low voltage and some other ones. That's why I'm asking here if there's anything important missing or for some more recommendations. I'm having a look at the spec sheet but a lot does come down to personal experience.

can u send a link to the BMS you purchased? im looking for a 8s to run a 24v 280 eve cells aswell

the seller sent me the official app in the meantime with a lifepo4 pre-setting so I can't really be too wrong anymore. Still open to comments what you guys are using to get the most out of it.

hmm.. my cell voltage seem to drift more and more. I had to run without a BMS for like 2 weeks or so after the initial balance to 3.65V in parallel. Do I have to repeat this process or will it balance out over time?

Considering the flat voltage curve of lifepo4 this difference is huge

nevermind on the balance. After the last bigger discharge cycle it balanced out. Should have done that before asking.

My inverter is set as follows:

thanks a lot! As mentioned, in the meantime I switched to the lifepo4 profile of their official app so I should be set, for now, I'm sure that leaves space for tuning tough.

Which inverter are you running?

This is an EASunpower ISolar SMV III 3K-24, identical to MPPSolar PIP3024GK. Been working great so far

Ah nice. I am waiting for the exact same one on the slow boat from china. Should be here in about a week. Did you buy the wifi module for it? I have ordered the wifi module and am keen to know if it was worth it or not.

I didn't order the wifi module yet, thought about it though. Let me know how it works :)

The bluetooth app works quite well but the range is kinda crap, it works in my van, however.

Maybe I'll hook up a raspberry pi to the USB port for monitoring at some point

I was told there was no Bluetooth module. That’s why I ordered the wifi. Weird.

Mine is also for the van. Did you hack the power switch to allow the inverter to be switched off from a remote switch. I’m assuming your inverter is tucked away like mine will be.

Ironically you and I will have almost identical systems.

I don't think we're talking about the same one. Mine comes with a detachable display so I can put the remote unit, including switch and display, wherever I want using a standard RJ45 cable. That's exactly why I wanted this model. The main downside (for vans) is the high PV input (MPPT range 115-450V) I'm compensating here with 4x Panasonic HIT 340W with a VOC of 71.3 connected in series to have a VOC. of 285.2 or 238.8 VMP

Ahhh yes i know that model. They could only get me the HV model which my existing panels couldn't support. i loved the idea of the detachable screen and mounting it in the van. Had to go the wifi option instead.
