is this legit, are there 2024 solar panel tariff hikes?

The increase has been proposed and is discussed on the forum.

Looking for threads now.

Here is a comprehensive discussion :

Where did you see this?

Trade act of 1974?
Solar panels weren’t even a thing yet much less China making them.
SIg Sol marketing emails. i've been eyeing for a while but, i'm probably not equipped to make proper purchasing decision yet, unless higher wattage panels are better as flat rule. starts to evoke FOMO.

i googled the section 301 and there some PDFs that pop up but, know the context or where to start reading let alone under the legalese.

From the White House:

The Trade Act of 1974 was passed by Congress in 1974 and it is renewed continuously. It basically gives the president authority to set tariffs and negotiate trade agreements. All presidents since 1974 have used it.

The proposed tariff on solar cells only applies if it originates in China. There are many manufacturers located elsewhere, such as Cambodia, Taiwan, Philippines, Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, Brazil, India, Japan.

The end result of tariffs is that it hurts smaller companies and helps build monopolies.
Prices go up, sales drop, prices drop to move product. Smaller companies can't eat the loss like big companies can and go under.

Unfortunately the ignorance of those in charge (which I’m sure they do really know) seem to think excessively taxing consumers will jump start a new Industrial Revolution
(Narrator: it won’t)

well i saw a video from louis rossmann he paid a lawyer to look at the tariff situation dues to issues getting microscopes in. it required filling out some forums in such a tight time frame that it would require teleporting the forums to the required office. or some how knowing the needed information before public release. some how wal-mart and amazon had no issues importing microscopes.

see the first few minutes,

US to try and clamp down on Chinese solar manufactures flooding market with Vietnamese solar panels.

EDIT: think i'm going to look at getting a pallet for 400+ watt panels
