Hey guys, when adding a new battery bank to my busbar, do I need to shut down the 6000xp unit before adding it? I understand I will need to adjust the new total amp hours. I am using chins 12.8v LIFePO4 batteries - lead acid setting.

Thanks for the input

At a minimum, shut off the battery breaker and turn off the old battery. You don't want live power, even 48v, at the busbar when you are touching it. You should also fully charge all batteries to the same level before paralleling them, otherwise a lot of amps can flow between the batteries.

I dont think you need to shut it down if you make sure its in grid passthru mode and then shut off the battery breaker on the XP.

Then shut off the existing battery and make sure the new battery is very close to the same voltage as the existing one.
Add second battery
Turn on both batteries
wait about 3 minutes for batteries to equalize
Turn on XP battery breaker

You do not want ANY voltage on the bus bar.

I recommend setting the inverter to standby mode and ensuring that both the inverter's battery breaker and the breaker on the battery itself are turned off.

Ensure you follow the recommended startup procedures. "Normally" all battery related breakers are closed/on BEFORE closing the break on the battery. Most batteries incorporate a pre-charge resistor/circuit that will ensure the inverter and inverter capacitors are not damaged.

Follow you inverter startup procedures....
