eBay’s SquareTrade protection plan

So I’m a little concerned with warranty fulfillment of some all-in-one inverter sellers on eBay. But then I saw that eBay offer’s SquareTrade’s 2-year protection plan on many of the items I’m interested in buying? Anyone have any experience with SquareTrace and warranty claims? We’re they helpful and responsive? Was the piece of mind worth it?

I read the terms of Square Trade and realized that the warranty is pretty much worthless. They will make you pay for diagnosis of the issue but will gladly pay for repair or replacement. Sometimes they will randomly replace your item with one that is not the same item. You will have amazingly long hold times. Accidental coverage will not be covered. If your item is too costly to replace they will cancel your policy... I know many people who purchased this service, best bet is to light your money on fire.

If you want good warranty service buy it for slightly more from a dealer of the item you are buying from. I know its more expensive but if you talk to them and explain what you are doing many many times you can get a discount by just asking. MSRP is actually quite marked up. I work in the tech industry and rarely pay MSRP for quality name brand equipment and anyone who expects me to pay that knows they are ripping you off. I love ebay until I hate it.

Yes. They have been great when things break and have refunded me the purchase price a couple of times. JUST KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL INVOICE.
