I have a house battery bank connected to 4 x 100w solar panels via Mppt. I use the house bank as also the starting battery for the engine. The battery bank is connected to the engine and also the shore power charger in addition to the MPPT.
Is this set up okay?

so do you have 2 battery banks, one house and one for the engine? if 2 battery banks you should have some kind of isolation between them?
but if your question is can a battery be hooked up to several chargers, yes

Single bank connected to engine, MPPT and shore charger.

It will work fine. But, you could end up with a dead battery and not be able to start the engine. That's why the two batteries are usually isolated.

That will work. I would want to keep a (charged) jump pack handy in case the battery bank was depleted.

What is the minimum number of batteries needed to start the engine? My diesel truck has dual batteries. In the summer, I think the engine would start on a single battery. In the winter, maybe not.

The boat is a catamaran and has another battery in the opposite hull. It is connected to a cross over switch in case one side goes dead.
