EG4 Battery - Address mapping / BMS Tool issues

Question 1 - Has anyone had any issue assigning addresses to the EG4's? I am assigning address 2 (ON,ON,OFF,ON) but the BMS only responds to ADR 11. I went through all five Battery's and logged which BMS address they responded to and they don't come close to matching.

Question 2 - Has anyone seen the EG4 BMS software not reporting battery values correctly when combing 24 Volt and 48 Volt? I have 3x 48 volt in parallel and 2x 24V in series (I switched from 24Volt to 48 and didn't want to wast the battery's).

I have 4 of the EG4's and I could not get the BMS software to work. I see a lot of people having trouble with it. I don't think it's worth a crap. It looks like it was written by some flunkie in China. No documentation. I just watch the SOC lights and hope for the best.

I have 3 eg4 batteries and the software works good. I set the dip switches to 11 - 13 - 15. Packs # 5 start address 11 works great. George

Depending on the battery their are 2 different dipswitch configs and 2 different software programs. About 90% of the time I hear of an issue, it's someone using the wrong one of the 2 to make it work. Signature Solar, our only distributor, offers in house tech support who will walk you through this. Give them a call or an email, or feel free to PM me with your info. Also - if you series these the software is essentially useless as the battery reports being a 24v battery, not 48v.

Richard. Signature Solar did not help me at all when I asked for help setting up software program and acted like it was no big deal using it. I still have a problem starting my inverter with my eg4 batteries. George

this guy says he has a solution, I haven't done the wiring yet. I'm going to fiddle with it later. I'll let you know if I have any results. Apparently, there's 2 different version of the BMS software. I can't seem to find the one shown in the manual.

I've got the ID's for the 12V packs mapped out, and it's working for me with SolarAssistant.

I don't think you will get the 24V and the 48V's working with the same software, but you could probably get the visibility you want using Solar Assistant and 2 different USB cables. One for the 24V packs and one for the 48V.

Pm me your info please. Also if you don’t hear back on Tuesday pm me again. I tend to forget my midnight conversations from the weekend by then!

I'm not sure how to do a PM here. Do I mouse over the avatar and click 'Start Conversation'? jberger: I have a Rpi but I guess Solar Assistant only works with MPP. I'm using a Midnite Classic 150/Outback Inverter.

Even if SA doesn't support your inverter, you could use it to monitor your batteries.

SA doesn't support my Magnum inverters, but it gives me a way to monitor the 3 packs, even when the RV is in storage.
