Enphase Energy to Acquire ClipperCreek

The acquisition is expected to provide the following benefits:

  • Provides Enphase distributors and installers globally with EV charging solutions that can be sold alongside solar and battery systems
  • Launches Enphase into the rapidly growing EV sector with a respected brand and industry-leading products
  • Accelerates the Enphase roadmap to enable bi-directional charging capability for vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid applications
  • Establishes a domestic manufacturing footprint for Enphase

Thanks for posting this! It seems like the perfect thing for them to take on to make use of EVs as an ESS. I'd like to find out more on that last bullet, it would be nice if the trend was to start bringing manufacturing back into the states.

Generac also just announced EV Bi-Directional systems to plug into their solar/generator systems.
Kia/Hyundai will also be offering similar with their EV's next year, in fact they are bundling solar + options with their EV's. (not avail everywhere)
Tesla has enabled such functionality as well.
VW and associated companies EV's will be Bi-Directional as well, some are now but future models will be as stated.

Requires the vehicle supports exporting energy through their charge port, and few do.
I know this is an old thread, but the way this is being approached is to backfeed the house through the DC pins the CCS connector, which gives the home inverter bi-directional access to the car’s battery in the same manner that L3 charging stations have direct DC access to the battery for charging. Any car with a CCS connector should be able to support V2H and/or V2G with little or no change to the vehicle.
