1st admission, I am a newby to the sight, though I have some technical experience. Recently viewed Will's rant on offshore vs us made lithium batteries, which I enjoyed watching. Gave me pause to wonder why Roypow has not be dismantled and reviewed, in gen'l, on the Inet. I'm about to spring for a couple $k for most likely a 36v 105ah Roypow assembly (yes for my GC, but should apply elsewhere) and would feel a bit better about it if it were reviewed. Imho it certainly would fall in with Will's theme as to capabilities, offshore or otherwise. My other thoughts are to build my own using Fortune® prismatic cells. Tx for any of your thoughts!

Someone has to be first :) The price point is pretty steep to get one and cut it apart to see what makes it tick, and I am guessing the average user is just throwing it in their golf cart and if it works it works.

I don't think you will see much interest for a 36v battery for other applications.

Yep - think your right on both points. However 36v is just my application. Looking at quality, we could dismantle any voltage battery as I suspect they are probably consistent across the product line. So we'll see as I make my purchase and I'll let the forum know what I find out.

Bumping this back up since Will just posted a video.

His teardown seemed very positive.

Roypow makes a golf cart battery. People have had a lot of trouble with them on the golf cart forums.

Interesting. Any links?

Looking through the specs...looks fairly standard.

120A discharge/100A charge max on the 100Ah
250A discharge/200A charge max on the 200Ah

Interesting both the 12v 100Ah and 200Ah are limited to 1S4P configurations, when in essence, the 200Ah is basically 1S2P inside (or technically 4S2P).

They make a specific battery for golf carts that are configured for 48 volts.

There are two or three large(ish) golf cart forums on the internet and I think 4 big groups on facebook. (But I closed my facebook account so no access anymore)

I think most of the problems were related to the BMS flaking out and not the actual battery cells.

I've watched most of Wills videos and usually take his advice, but Iam finding more and more influencers are getting these battery's for free and being the devils advocate there usually rigged to perform better because they will sell alot of the product on his giving a positive review. I'm not knocking Will or anybody else on how they make a living off there video's. I mean person has to make a living right. I would how ever suggest to buy the battery as a regular person off the street not knowing who he is and then test it to see how it turns out. I mean they (manufactures) of cars and trucks been doing it for years when it comes to journalists to do reviews on the product. Do the old bait and switch. Just my .02

i guess you havent watched will videos.
he has not one single problem completely shattering products or suppliers when warrented.

same as ray ( ray builds cool stuff)

there are a few others that so put questionable reviews, but time usually catches up with them fast these times.
of course someone can be wrong or overly impressed, but if they do not self correct, you should know enough

For stock golf carts, the controllers limit to @ 150 to 175 amp peak draw and motors that are @ 2hp, so that may work.

Most of the golf cart forums are discussing modded carts ( I have one I did myself ) with controllers that START at 400amp and up, which I have with a 6 hp motor, on acceleration, I can pull close to the controllers limit 400 amp, none of the batteries outside of the specially built packs can deal with this, so I slog along with good old fashion T105's, and can do 30 mph.

Newer Stock carts are 56V and higher, that's how they get to be LFP friendly with the small packs.

Well, looks like the prices went up $200, which puts it near SOK prices, so not the crazy value it was when Will posted the video.

But hey, if they're in stock and shipping, that's still a deal.

Can you tell me what the three major golf cart forums are?

There's "golf carts modified" on facebook as well as 3 or 4 other very active groups, buggiesgonewild website is the biggest I think, and also Cartaholics, which isn't so busy.
