I'm glad I finally made it on board. I'm 58 years old and plan on retiring in a few years. I plan on spending some of my time living in a small 12 x 16 foot off grid cabin that my dad built back in the 1970's. The rest of the time I'm going to travel in a van or perhaps tow a small trailer.

I've purchased 200 watts of panels to start out my solar learning at my cabin. I hope to learn and share will all of you here.

With the massive PG&E power outage in Northern California I bet a bunch of people will be looking at off grid solar systems.

I just read that elsewhere. Pretty amazing strategy, don't do proper maintenance because why spend money on the network when we can just turn it off.

There is a little more to it than that. In some cases they are not allowed to do proper maintenance. Plus with high winds and dry vegetation normal maintenance may not be enough.

I live in Sacramento. The cabin is near Latrobe.

This sounds great! Please post pictures when you can... I want a cabin someday...
