Watts247

Ian has great support. Worked me through an issue with my system that was too simple. 3 minutes on the phone and I was setup.

Why review simply for getting the item in a timely manner? Many can do that but the service and support are the biggies.

I placed a large order, and about 3-4 months later I realized I needed something different. I had to pay restocking fees, but was extremely happy with the fact that I was still allowed to return the items to get some money back, considering how long it had been.

After ordering from them multiple times and asking lots of questions along the way, I would definitely order from them again.

Wow, That's great!!

I've had both good and bad support from Ian at watts247 and thought that I would throw any future business over to SigSolar, but after reading what many go through with them when they have an issue I have had to rethink that.

It's the internet and you're going to find both good and bad reviews about everything because everyone has an opinion or story. My own experiences with Signature Solar have been positive, everything from sales to warranty support.

That's all fine and dandy. BUT I have yet to see anyone on this forum other than myself complain about the customer service provided by watts247. But on the other hand I've seen score's of people complaining about Signature Solars customer service.

Now granted a lot of SigSolars customers eventually got their problems sorted out, but not until they complained on this forum and had to spend a lot of time and effort jumping through hoops with some of those hoops looking to be unnecessary.

I'm not saying I like watts247 but after seeing how SigSolars customer service works I see watts247 as the lesser of 2 evils.

Well that’s not true but I am a satisfied customer of both companies.

A simple search on watts247 will find a few complaints but none from me.

It would be near impossible to find any company that has only one complaint on this forum ?.

Ian doesn't do anywhere near the volume of sales that Signature does so it's an unfair comparison. He seems like a nice guy but based on the appearance of his website and the fact that he attempted to send 100 pound plus server rack batteries via standard UPS/Fedex ground, I would never buy anything from him. That battery snafu was just one example of a complaint against Watts247 that was posted on this forum.

I will admit I haven't searched for any complaints about watts247, but I also haven't searched for any complaints about sigsolar but whenever I visit this site I always look at the the new post and it's extremely hard to miss all the post about sigsolar.

I also believe it is fair to compare the two. One is an example of how to manage your business better by not growing to big to fast and the other is an example of what happens when a business bites off more than it can chew.

Bought an MPP pip2024 from Watts247, as I couldn't find the unit in most other places ... speedy order/delivery. Didn't really need the support, as the unit jumped right into action when I hooked it up per their installation notes. So far, so good ...

On any of these kinds of "internet sites", the only thing I worry about is getting a model that is too far back in age. In other words, they are selling you what they have in inventory, vs the latest model of the category from the manufacturer. I would pay more to get that right ... only way to beat "technology" problems (firmware, fixes, etc.)

Between manufacturer and vendor, it's sometimes hard to get this right ... obfuscation (whether intended or not) on all sides.

I had the same concern. I made sure that the device was able to update firmware remotely. I discovered that concept when I bought my first Tesla and have been getting updates and feature improvements ever since.

I think you’re only supposed to post about vendors when you have a complaint - judging by many other forum members ?.

But seriously, I had a good experience buying a PCM-60X from Ian years ago.
I am new here but I like good reviews also to tell me where is best to buy stuff.
