Can someone explain how ac pass-through works? Is the inverter outputting when the LCD displays AC pass-through when I connect my generator to charge the batteries or is the generator charging batteries and powering the loads exclusively and not going through the inverter?

Watchpower or the web monitoring will tell you this.
It will depend on your settings for sbu etc and actual battery voltage and load etc.

Have been unsuccessful in getting watch power to work as have most people.

In AC pass through your utility powers both the load and can charge the battery using the inverter as a battery charger. When you are running AC off inverter you can not use utility to charge the battery.

So if my generator is connected and running, the inverter will not produce electricity correct and the gen is passed through powering the loads. The inverter is out of the loop in this case, shut off, and comes on only to charge the batteries if needed. I just don't want the inverter and the generator to power my panel at the same time.

Not really shutoff but it is not powering the AC out to loads. Think of it like a computers UPS. It is sitting and ready to take over if utility is lost or is not a good power supply. This is something people with generators have had difficulty with these units because some generators output is considered by the AIO to be out of spec for frequency or voltage.

Excellent reply.Thank You. So there is no danger of both powering the AC loads at the same time. That's what I needed to know. I have to run a small load, heater on low, plugged into generator to smooth the frequency out then it latches and works perfectly
