Hi All,

been looking through a lot of forums trying to find the answer, but no luck yet.
I have a growatt sph5000 with a storage battery, but I have been noticing that late at night my battery is charging itself from the grid, which I don’t want it to do.
any ideas of how I can stop this?
any help would be much appreciated
thanks ??

do you have the app / login to server.growatt.com ?

you can log into that and program the inverter, if set to something like battery first (solar only backup) it can be set to force charge at night, you probably need to change that

Hi thanks for the reply, I have managed to do this on login webpage, I have changed it to load first, is that the one you would recommend?

Hi
Did you sort this out?
I think I have the opposite issue. Get cheaper p/kwh at certain times during the night so want to charge battery to 70% (allowing some storage capacity assuming the sun shines and I can store the sun power rather than export to the grid) ready for the morning kettle etc etc when the sun might not yet be up.
I’ve not yet worked out how to programme the inverter to charge at a certain time and to a certain level. It just charges when the PV is generating more than my load consumption and discharges when load is more than PV.
Any tips are welcome please

Should add
I have a 6kwh PV system, 6kwh battery and the Growatt SPH5000

change to battery first, ac charge on, set a time slot for charging, this will force charge, go to the bottom, enter todays date as 20230112 and press yes.

Done

Lock of the draw. Must have been the mid
What tariff are you on for the over night rates ?
:)

19p kWh overnight for import between 4-7am then again at 1-4pm. 51p between 4-7pm then 31p the remaining hours of the 24 hour period.
So utilising those 19p periods is hugely beneficial

So, all change this morning
I think because my export has moved to Octopus (had an email this morning and checked shine phone), a new device has appeared! Above the battery, is now a blue symbol with an inverter in it and all the options in the settings on the website are now completely different to the other day. Will monitor to see if it makes any difference to anything

Here’s a pic

I've just seen this added to my app, and plant details. It says it's disconnected and I had a warning that my inverter power is less than the quoted PV power and I should check. Is this a new feature? Anyone know what the setting should be as my device serials are the same for the battery and inverter...

I checked if there were any app updates but there haven’t been updates since 2 months ago.
I assumed this was to do with my export being set up. But maybe a an app update as you say?

Also noticing that export is considerably higher when battery charge isn’t as powerful and battery has a lot of capacity. Weather related maybe due to the cold?
Set to load first, so battery secondary and export last.

I've just been having a look around and I'm not sure what the new options mean. Lots of new terms and there's no obvious load priorities anymore and the AC charging is a mystery. Guess I'll be using the app not the web interface as that still has the old terms and I know where everything is!

I think it’s one of the top sections. Where it looks like you can structure the 24 hour day. Change load first to whatever you want then have battery first next for however long. AC charge is in there

I found them after digging around, the old options are under the account section

Gone back to how it was, wonder if that's a pending upgrade or something? I preferred the new one where you can easily see the 24 hourly settings in sequence regardless of mode
