I have two SPF 3000TL LVM-ES inverters in parallel and just upgraded to ARK 2.5L-A1 batteries and the system isn't communicating. The manual states I need a RS485/ CAN HUB. Does anyone know where I can get one or replace with like? Thanks! Bill

Hi there,
ARK 2.5L-A1 is only CAN protocol capable - so RS485 wont work on it and there is no such a think like a CAN HUB. There is a can gateway, but hub is not required for CAN cause all devices are connected in parallel to the CAN bus.

Check you settings for protocol setup in the inverter if it can communicate using L51 protocol ( this is the case whit my SPF5000ES inverter). Ref to attached picture for further details.

Hello, I have a
growattsp5000es and want to connect the growatt gbli6532 battery. Normally GROWATT Service says no. But I think it might work, because:
The other battery system ark 2.5L A1 works with Can protocol Nr. 51 with sph spa and spf inverters (all Growatt). See attachment…
So the GBLI battery works only with spa and sph inverters, GROWATT wrote to me. But I think, if the other battery system ( ark 2.5 A1) works with all of the spa sph and spf5000es inverter, it might also be able with the gbli6532 connected with my spf5000es. Any ideas, what could go wrong, if I try it and use can protocol Nr. 51? Any users, who have similar products of growatt (spf5000es, spf 3500es and the GBLI battery? Which protocol do you use?
Thx a lot….
Markus

Hi DLMB, from what I know about the ARK 2.5L CAN is that in one of the IDs is responsible for the battery type and its software. It is totally possible the 5000ES Firmware to check the battery type and reject it if it is not acceptable...or what I know about 5000ES is that it send a constant string to the battery, may be the battery BMS check if the inverter is from the supported type and switch power to the terminals.
If you can ask Growatt service to provide gbli6532 protocol (or confirm if it is CAN 1.05 like the one used in ARK, L51 in menu 36) then we can proceed further and make a plan how to fool them to work together...

...I just checked the gbli6532 is advertised as CAN 2.0 protocol, that means for sure wont work with supported L51(CAN 1.05) by the 5000ES.

Anyway if you can get the CAN 2.0 protocol specification from Growatt support, please share it with me, I can develop some kind of gateway :) b/w 5000ES and the new battery.

Strange that CAN 2.0 as you call it is not backwards compatible with a CAN 1.0 protocoll...
Kind of standard in the IT world when someone implements a newer version of protocolls.

I think the only issue is commercial one - i.e. force you to buy new products. The physical layer is the same, just the IDs content may be is different or just added some new IDs that the invertor will look for and BMS will broadcast.

I am sure if they want they can put any CAN 2.0 support in any CAN device(backwards compatibility), but buying new product need to be justified somehow :).

Yesterday I re-checked with my supplier here and they still do not have ARK 2.5L in stock, that is more than 4 months already without any stock, but in same time they are offering me another noname brand that is probably "compatible" with 5000ES, but again I have to throw out the ARK battery and only use the noname one...the ARK is in less tan 100 cycles.

Hello,

Have you found any solutions?
I have a similar problem.

Thx,

Imre

So I have a SPF5000ES and (unfortunately) bought two GBLI6532… :-(
