Yes you need an electrician, and your chances of finding one that will use your DIY battery are virtually zero.

Can you explain a little more please. I generally thought this is considered as low voltage. You sound like pretty cluey with this matter.

DIY 48V battery is no problem to build legally. Connecting to the grid requires network provider permission, and they make it virtually impossible to get permission for a DIY battery. Hence no electrician is going to make the connection for you.

Plenty of information around on this if you search for it.

There are no doubt a few who have but as a rule of thumb grid-tied DIY PV and battery is problematic and not worth the hassle.

That's why taking loads off-grid is "easier" with DIY, although even that is tricky. The complete lack of free access to the regulatory standards we have all already paid for is an abomination.

Thanks guys. Thanks for the link. Yeah I am aware about inverter and it is cec listed. Goodwe 5048 es.

Would they categorize legally, DIY battery if one is not listed in CEC? lets say Growatt Hope.

If I understand your question correctly, you are wanting to know whether a non CEC listed battery such as Growatt Hope will be classified as as a DIY battery.

It depends on who 'they' are.

A Growatt Hope could be catagorised as a pre-assembled battery system under AS/NZS 5139 if it meets the requirements of the Best Practice Guide: battery storage equipment — Electrical Safety Requirements.

That may help an electrician decide it is not a DIY battery. Whether that will help an inspector is another question.

Thanks.
I think I got it. CEC listed is not legally required. At the end, cec'ed, or non-cec'ed, or diy, doesn't matter, as long as BESS qualified sparky is happy to install (plug it in), this is it. isn't it? But they may never be happy with diy's.
Even cec listed ones, we still need sparky, right?

Sure, but that excludes others from seeing questions and answers they also might find helpful, or maybe just entertaining.

Post them to my thread, see link below.
