Below is a comparison of my progress on my zinc ion home made battery research. This is a fully rechargeable cell. Completely dirt cheap, and super easy to make, it's main ingredient is water filter carbon which can be bought dirt cheap in bulk. The energy density of the cell on the left is > 100 watt hours per kg(I've gotten almost 200 on some small scale designs but they do not scale as well as this design).
The cheapest bulk package I've found on ebay ($150 for 22 Kg) puts this batteries cost at a hilarious (approximate with other accessories) $80-$90 CAD per kilowatt hour! And that's just with consumer prices.
