Hello. New to the forum, but I’ve had a long-time interest in solar power.

One of the vendors that I came across appears to have gone out of business. (Edison Solar out of Milan, OH) They did system design and installation, but also sold direct/retail to the public.

So, I’m finally at the point where I want to buy a few panels, but all I can find are businesses in Florida or on the west coast. Does anyone know of any brick-and-mortar vendors in the Midwest that sell components to us DIY sorts? (solar panels, batteries, etc.)

I know of one. Greentech Renewables. I bought solar panels and racking equipment from them. I have seen some rumblings on this forum that they are not selling to DIY'ers but I think if you talk to someone in sales and don't expect them to handhold, they should sell to you.

DIY people like me don’t know much about this solar stuff and I can see why a company like Signature Solar gets some bad press on this forum. They sell at higher volume than most and at competitive prices but perhaps they’ve failed to pad in the cost of customer support or have somehow misrepresented the level of service they can offer. It’s easier with a smaller company because you the business owner can take care of it yourself. Pretty sure this is how Trophy Batteries works.

I worked with APAsolar in OH for my ground mount. Great guys. I don't know what else they sell
What rack did you go with? The A-Frame Tracker has my interest.

Welcome to the forum @CB350G
(edit - think that's against the rules) check the classifieds here and craiglist in your local area for used panels

I'd recommend 18650 Battery Store if you plan to build your own packs.

CED Greentech is good advice if they will sell to you.

Current Connected is a great source but they are on the W side of the country, there is also altE solar at the NE corner.

Ready rack residential. Easy to install. I started with ironridge but couldn't source the pipe i needed so I switched to them because they send everything you need on a pallet.
You can hand drive the ground anchors but in my hardpan clay its not recommended. In sandy soil you could save the $1500 machine rental to do it

Thank you. I'll have to get a quote for my next long term ground mount, my DIY lumber was fun but I want to add a lot more than 12 panels to the next one...

Wow, thanks for the quick replies. Looks like Greentech has a location nearby (Pittsburgh) so I’ll give them a try.
