diy solar

I'm the luckiest boy in the world!

Am I the only one who who is constantly drawn back to my inverter to see how much power it's pulling in?? I go do something else in the house but I'm back to the solar closet again. It's like a spectator sport for me.

Ooh, look it's pulling in 3,000W!!
Oooh, look at that charging current!
Oh, yeah..

Then I'm all disappointed and deflated when the battery's all topped off.

I need a cigarette..

next task: add a diversion load

you can add several kwh of production per day with that

Well the last couple days we were home, so I had the space heater going. That added 5-6KWh both days. But I need to set something up while I'm at work, don't want the space heater going when I'm not there.

Just means it is time for MORE BATTERIES!!!

MOAH POWAHHHH! Ugh ugh ugh.

This is where I get upset. My whole system points 3 different directions, with the majority being South-East, then South-West, and North-East.

Because of this, my 11kw array has never produced more than 9kw peak, even with lensing. But, my solar production does last longer.

Didn't see this in your thread, but got to thinking about maybe putting some circuits on a timer, and having them come on midday after the battery gets charged.

it is in there - somewhere - uses the AUX port (dry contactor) of one of my Charge controllers, that goes ACTIVE when battery is full, THAT activates the 12v relay which actives the SSRs for the 240v which then runs the coils in the water heater

also, love your signature where you describe your beginnings - keep going
Thanks. We all had to start some way. My "entry drug" was an Ecoflow River Pro we got a couple years ago. I got a 200W panel to charge it and I was hooked. I thought, hey, we need to expand on this idea and here we are.

I frequently see my 10.7kw array pulling in over that. I've seen over 12kw coming in for durations when it's very cold here -30 Celsius. With the snow and the bifacial that helps!
Is your rack adjustable? I saw it on your YouTube channel but couldn't tell. Also like your DIY battery, isn't it a 4 x 14.8KWh bank? That's a hefty cabinet it's in.

The rack is not adjustable no, I want to add another 5kw array that is more upright just to capture winter, as winter I run out of power nov-jan!

The battery is a 16s4p setup, so each cell is 3.2v nominal * 16. 4 In series to get the 1120ah capacity!

Thanks for the feedback!
