Any issues with 12 panels in series as opposed to 6s2p?

It was suggested on a FB solar group that i should go with 2s6p for 70a .... apparently that is the most powerful ? I heaven't heard that before as the KWh remains the same... and more crucially i don't have 50' of 2/0 wire lying around

Any issues with 12 panels in series as opposed to 6s2p?

Guys Just about to put the panels on my new array rack. Please chime in on panel configuration .. I’m planning On 12 x 400w all in series 400/31v(vmp) = 12.9a(imp) 12x 31v = 372v (under my MPPT LIMIT of 450v) Fused at 15a Any draw backs to this over 6s2p ? I HAVE NO SHADE ISSUES Thanks!

Adding a GT4000 opti solar grid tie inverter to AC in of GW es5k AIO ?

Why would that be an issue as the GW has a shore power connection already available which i use at the moment when battery bank gets low?

Adding a GT4000 opti solar grid tie inverter to AC in of GW es5k AIO ?

I have 2 Gw 5 AIO .. but have an opportunity to pick up the GT4 very reasonably.... So I took a look at this thread as advised. https://diysolarforum.com/threads/can-growatt-spf-5000es-handle-ac-coupling.76673/ So the grid tie inverter has to see a constant 220, presumably that's why they go...

Adding a GT4000 opti solar grid tie inverter to AC in of GW es5k AIO ?

Guys I’m looking at adding a GT4000 opti solar inverter to my system .. it’s a grid tie but I’m wanting to connect it to the AC in of my growatt es500’s as a ‘generator’ Thus maximizing the draw from the GT’s constant AC output. Presumably I can set the GW function to ‘grid first ‘ Any reason...

    Growatt ES5000 Charging function

Hey Guys Wondering if someone has used the es5000 just to charge battery modules from utility? Been through the options 001 Listed here....I'm guessing the real question is this.. Q. Is Battery charging ever considered a LOAD? SOL Solar firstSolar energy provides power to the loads as first...

    Voltage differences in strings

Hi Guys i had promised to give some feedback so here it is .... Mistersandals estimate " Total on paper: 3104W" was pretty fair considering the 1st string points south and the second points west with 1 panel south facing ... they are also set at 51' (from memory) which was the optimum at...

Flashing red light on led board growatt es5000

Hey Guys flashing light on circuit board of growatt es5000- no fault codes ?? Only issue i can see is incoming amps should be 8.0 .. often just seeing 0.1 ?? When i shut down and power up ill see 8a but gradually drops off? Intermittent cloud ( voltage reading good ) Connected to jakiper 5.2 48v

    Voltage differences in strings

That's Great! So to summarize so i understand - Having 2 equal strings would net 2880w on paper By adding one of the 375 to the smaller panels pushes that to 3104w The volt difference is 16v ( is that an acceptable difference?) between the 2 strings Sunshine can you explain the purpose of...

    Voltage differences in strings

Hey Guys I want another string and have been advised on another forum that the voltage difference is too much 1 string of 270w x4 (1080w) panels in series 4x43.6voc = 174.4v. 1080/174.4=6.19a And 1 string of 375w x6 (2250w)in series 6x48.8voc= 292.8v 2250/292.8= 7.6a What are the guidelines...

Thanks for your patience and input .. very likely going to get the growatt 6k so my diagram looks like this now ... 3S2P. Is this looking ok for the charger input and amps etc Next big question is wire size from panels ? Will it be just 10awg? My run will be 30ft max and i tried to use the volt...

I was talking about the solar charge controller ... I think i'm going to save the sungold power 6k INV for another project and buy a growatt 6k AIO or the EG4 6.5 120v single phase .. both are 1299 but include a huge input MPPT .. why pay a grand for the big victron charge controller ...

Please chime in .. comments on the items / layout

2S3P = Ok so that's 3 wires going into the SCC ... the victron (for argument sake) has only 1 inlet for PV so i'd need a combiner ? Other than the wifi BT options with the victron is there any reason they are so expensive .. they look cheap (manufactured in china?) i know people rave about them...

Thankyou Michael .. esp the comment on SE facing panels ... experience experience.. I already have the sungoldpower 6k but it is not a solar off grid. I'm unable to add panels directly to it hence the Charge controller. I'm guessing if i expand bigger i'll at a growwatt inv or something similar...

Connecting my Jakiper 48 5.1 to Sungold Power 6k inverter for the first time

Ok so this is what i found if anyone else is a newbe and concerned connecting the bigger inverters ... Apparently for a 48v INV you need a 10w 470 ohm resistor to precharge the INV before the full connection to the batteries ... or a 240v 100w light bulb : ) Thanks for the link 420.
