    Utility jerking me around.

lol. I cant even see my neighbors from where I am. Its possible that may look suspicious. Plus they already cashed my check.

    Utility jerking me around.

Well said on all accounts. I was scolded locally the other day for calling my brook a creek lol. "this isnt the south! its called a brook, not a creek!" I proceeded to call it a crik for the rest of the day. sorry about that transformer price. I dont feel as bad now. Its not fun buying...

    It was about $1800 for a 15kva

    My new diagram. Please check.

I messed with it for a few minutes and it didn't seem to be a problem with the 7.0. maybe I did it wrong. But unless I'm wrong, I think it doesnt mater with grid tied like it does with off grid inverters. I didnt think the inverters need to talk or anything like that. 30 panels into each and...

Ya I might try for the forgiveness route if I go slightly over 15k. It’s the same with growatt and fronius 7.6. The occasional extra 200 watts isn’t hurting anything.

Ya I’m hoping this helps my return go easier and my restock fee to get waived.

I don’t mind this thread getting bumped honestly. I never got help about my ac combiner question. lol.

I hear back from signature solar about this. Apparently it’s not possible the moment for the 18kpv to function as a grid only inverter. “the 18k does not currently function as a "grid tie only" inverter. It seems this is the only application in which the EG4 18kPV does not operate well...

    My new diagram. Please check.

That’s a great point about the 18k. I messaged eg4 the other day with just that question. I wasn’t sure about the Gen outbound and load terminals being used. The utility supplies the meter. I’ll need to check with them.

I have heard bad things about solar edge inverter reliably. There was a link I saw in here that showed up to 30% failure. The. Then sent lawyers after the guy who was reviewing them. Fortunately I don’t have shading. It’s a ground mount in a field.

Im also considering the Fronius primo 15kw if anyone has any experience with that one.

    My new diagram. Please check.

I looked at the enphase, but for 60 panels it would cost me way too much. I already own the panels. Enphase would cost me almost 4x what sma string inverters would. I did look at the hoymiles 4 in 1 but I just dont know how reliable they would be. Those would be about $1000 more than the 2 sunny...

    My new diagram. Please check.

So after running into a roadblock with my 18kpv and backup plans with my utility (they require a separate production meter) Ive decided to go net metering only for now. Im gonna try to find two sunny boy 7.0 inverters (unfortunately just discontinued). They said I could keep my old plan and add...

Ya my frost line is like 8 feet and extremely rocky. When I trenched for the wire conduit part of my trench was 8’ wide from digging out bolders.

I was just looking at those batteries. It’s definitely an option.

    Utility jerking me around.

Im just glad to see the sun again. Winter energy production is tough here. I’ve got a really good brook to do hydro, but it would just freeze for 4 months. I’ve got 13 cord of dry wood stored away lol.
  17. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

I’ve got 60 panels already. I would be producing enough throughout the sunny months to offset the high use cloudy months. I don’t need to be off grid. Solar will suite me just fine. I just have to just through some hoops. Once I’m done doing that I’ll be glad I did. It should save me nearly...

    Utility jerking me around.

Ya I heard back from them about the rule. They were citing the wrong one. It’s actually 5.100 5.126 Energy Measurement for Net-Metering Systems (A) Electric energy measurement for net-metering systems must be performed in the following manner: (1) At its own expense, the applicant must...
  19. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

Exactly. I can only make a fraction of what I need in the winter.

    Utility jerking me around.

I would if I weren’t going to be leaving thousands of dollars per year on the table. I’m in this to reduce my $450 winter electric bills, not to be off grid. As I said, if I weren’t getting .20/kwh I wouldn’t bother.
  21. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

Ok. I’ve come up with plan B. I made a new plan for two growatt min 7600 grid tie inverters. this plan has me going grid tie only and I’ll just get a propane generator later on for power outages. I have 60 300w panels. I could go 3 strings of 10 into each of the two inverters and then combine...

    Utility jerking me around.

If they could get away will dismal wholesale rates here they would. But the state forces them to pay .20+ per kWh. If this were over .04 like some places there no way I would jump through all these hoops. But at .20 it’s worth it in the long run. I would be producing almost $5,000 worth a year.
  23. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

So from what I can tell, the utility really recommends residential net metering clients surrender their renewable energy credits to the utility. If you don’t, they punish you with a .06 less per kwh they pay. They can then use these credits themselves. That’s probably why they insist on a...
  24. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

The math works heavily in the favor of net metering. Most of the year I’ll be generating more than I use and they pay a lot per kWh here. Honestly I would be better off just trying to return my hybrid inverter and battery, getting a much cheaper grid tie inverter and getting a propane generator...

    Utility jerking me around.

Ya I couldn’t find that in 5.500. I’m waiting for their response pointing to the section they are referring me to.
  26. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

I had the same thought about 5.500. I read it and didn’t see it. I emailed and asked for the section they are referring to. If it’s not in 5.500 and they still insist, I’ll absolutely get the state involved. If it’s a state rule I’ll probably get a basic grid tie inverter and just hook that...

    Utility jerking me around.

So inverter straight to their export meter and not hooked to my backup at all? At that point it might be better to just get a sub $2000 grid tie inverter and hook 40 of my 60 panels to it and keep my hybrid and battery separate on the other 20 panels for critical needs backup. I don’t know...

Washington electric.i wish I could get GMP here.
  29. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

I’m seriously considering it. 2 more power pro batteries would cost me about $5400 after tax credit. That would bring my batteries to about 43 kWh. (Three total power pro batteries) In the winter I use about 60 kWh daily because of a heat pump in very cold temps. In the summer I use about 40kwh...

    Utility jerking me around.

Ya, that’s my final go to. Just get extra batteries and go that route. If I can’t work this out with them.
  31. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

I don’t have permits here.no diagrams No inspections either. Very rural. The electric co just comes to verify when the interconnect happens. I just filled out the net metering amount I wanted to do and they started the process. They’ve been very hands off. I can tell they don’t want more net...
  32. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

But where would I wire a grid tie inverter between the 18kpv and the export meter? Based on my diagram I don’t see how that would work. It would need to be radically different.
  33. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

This would have been wonderful for them to tell me last year when I filled out the paperwork and included the damn model of inverter I was using.
  34. TheFlumph

    Utility jerking me around.

I can’t even wrap my head around what they are wanting me to do. The hybrid inverter will be taking in more from the panels than it will be exporting to the grid. It can only to 12kw I think. So I put another inverter between this invert and their meter? Where would it even be wired from?
