    Ideas for wiring

Everything is tightened snug. It heats up between the cutoff switch right after the battery and through the entire fuse system. I am open to hearing ideas related to how I could re-structure the 250A fuse system. Right now it's just a bunch of positive wires coming off one side.

    Ideas for wiring

I have here a 400 watt system similarly modeled after Will's 400 watt system. The issue I'm having is the positive wire (2awg) from the cutoff switch to the fuse (250A) get very warm when hitting near the limit of the inverter. I know that something needs to change here in terms of the layout...

Solar Input Current Different Than Coulometer

There’s the missing piece to the puzzle! ??‍♂️ Thank you.

Solar Input Current Different Than Coulometer

The MT-50 is measuring directly from the solar charge controller (plugged into it) and the shunt is connected directly off the negative terminal of the battery with no appliances between the two. All negatives are attached to a bus bar after the shunt.

Solar Input Current Different Than Coulometer

I recently installed the DIY 400 watt solar system shown in Will's YouTube video (major components listed below). I recently switched the panels from a parallel setup to a series group, as shown in the diagram here on his website. I am currently doing some testing with this setup, and noticed...

Batteries and heater for solar system?

I’d love to have this project done by the time spring rolls around. But like you said, I’m pretty deep into this project.. Thanks for the MAG-O board tip! I’ll look into this for a backer when I build out the cabinets.

Batteries and heater for solar system?

I agree on the thermostat to regulate temperature and only keep the batteries warm enough for optimal use (I.e, 50 degrees F). You’re also correct on the pop up camper. Mine is the slide in camper for a pickup truck. I bought it completely stripped of every amenity, including all kitchen...

Batteries and heater for solar system?

I’m currently going through Will Prowse’s purchase list to build a 400 watt solar panel system for a pop up pickup camper. I have purchased everything but the batteries and wanted to jump ahead a little to the various use cases for this system. I live in Montana, which as you may guess, we have...

812LV-MS 800W 12V Grid Solar Inverter Buying Options?

I am actively trying to buy the MPP 812lv-MS 800W 12v all in one solar charge controller/inverter that Will has reviewed in several videos. However, I cannot find it in stock anywhere online. Does anyone have an idea of where I can get my hands on one? Or, is there a similar option for a simple...

MPP Solar 812LV-MS 800W 12V Grid Solar Inverter

Yeah they are pretty common. The one by the hospital was pretty far from the woods though.

MPP Solar 812LV-MS 800W 12V Grid Solar Inverter

I knew the guy and his mom who were shooting at each other in episode 2 of season 4 lol. Anyways, I appreciate the solar advice and I will post updates once I find some pickup camper jacks that allow me to safely get the camper in my garage this winter.

MPP Solar 812LV-MS 800W 12V Grid Solar Inverter

Sounds like it’s going to be a pretty cool setup! Do you think the 800 watt AC inverter is underpowered for your needs?

MPP Solar 812LV-MS 800W 12V Grid Solar Inverter

Thanks for the hot tip! I’ve been doing some research on this and think it will be a good fit for my pop up pickup camper with a 400 watt solar array and 1 Battle Born (for now) lithium battery. What is your current setup?

MPP Solar 812LV-MS 800W 12V Grid Solar Inverter

Will this unit be safe to use in a camper with a 12v fuse block to power 12v devices?

    Pickup Pop Up Camper

I really do appreciate your thoughts in the replies here. I think I’ve narrowed things down (a little). I want to do 400 watts in solar panels with 4 of the 100 watt HQST solar panels wired in parallel. From there I want to get the EPEVER MPPT 40A solar charge controller and 1 Battle Born...

    Pickup Pop Up Camper

Interesting thoughts. I’m still unsure of the ultimate route I’d like to take. Any advice on the type of system to go with? I have not hooked up a solar system before, and it would be great to hear others thoughts on what would work best in a setup like this.

    Pickup Pop Up Camper

I just purchased a pickup pop up camper that’s pretty dated and all the electrical is ripped out of it. I want to install some sort of solar system in the range of 200-400 watt solar panels (maybe more, but haven’t decided). I also want to be able to charge with a shore power plugin. The only...
