    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Are you at 0 battery current? I had the same issue and it was because there was current flowing in/out of the battery at a detectable rate. In my case I could also do system time on the batteries but could not write to batteries. I also had issues with drivers on my m1 mac but after manually...

EG4 Inverters Couldn't Make The Grade

I also had what I would consider a pretty bad experience with 6500EX warranty, but comparing the 6500ex to a SolArk 12k is not exactly fair when a single 12k is about twice as much as 2x 6500EXs.

EG4 Inverters Couldn't Make The Grade

There was another thread about someone returning their 18k and it kept getting repeated that it was the first 18k to get returned. :ROFLMAO:

EG4 Inverters Couldn't Make The Grade

I guess this makes it the second 18K to get returned?

Have You Registered Your EG4 Battery Warranty?

I didn't know this and just stumbled upon this thread. It's been over a year and I'm still going to try to fill it out, but it's pretty absurd that this has to be done, specially since all the info the form asks for they have available on their end. The one thing might be that the purchaser...

10 Panels in PV Array Series -- combiner box or disconnect?

Yes. The other commenters here assumed 48 Voc so I think their suggesstions are already up to spec with your panel. I have no experience with using solar panels in the cold (my house is in the caribbean) and have no experience with these Voc fluctuations they mentioned. Just to be sure, you...

10 Panels in PV Array Series -- combiner box or disconnect?

@TheHappyNomads If you post a picture of your panel specs we can give you more certain answers on your best string combinations.

10 Panels in PV Array Series -- combiner box or disconnect?

You want 1 disconnect for each string in this case.

10 Panels in PV Array Series -- combiner box or disconnect?

What I found online for the lv6548 is that it has 2 MPPTs that accept up to 250V, and there's a V model (LV6548V) that accepts up to 390V. I think you might be confusing the watts with the volts, and you might actually damage something if you hook up those 10 panels in series together without...

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Was it full pack or cell overvoltage? @Zapper77 showed a screenshot from a firmware that the max voltage set above the alarm voltage. If you had that Firmware it would be very likely to have caused pack overvoltage alarms.

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Well that shunt by itself is like 9% of the cost of the whole battery, which has cells, casing and a BMS. I'm sure that if Victron sold you a Server Rack Battery it would be much more expensive than 1 EG4 + 1 Shunt. :P

    EG4 Communication Hub - Fuse

Yep, 14 AWG should be 15A so you undersizing is great! Glad you got that handled and were able to make your system safer.

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

The 2A thing was confirmed by someone from SS in this thread. I also tried it with my bench PSU and was able to consistently go from not charging to 2A by increasing and decreasing the amperage in the lab bench a few milliamps. I'm optimistic it may just be a firmware bug and next update will...

    EG4 Communication Hub - Fuse

Just to make sure, did you pick a fuse rated for the the thinnest cable in the string?

6 EG4 rack batteries SOC issue

Yes exactly. The way software is usually built you increase each number individually. I have plenty of software at work on like version 2.437.0 and you definitely don't need to preallocate zeroes to get to more digits.

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Update: The really imbalanced battery is is still very imbalanced, the process will take a really long time to get as good as the rest of the batteries I think. I'm considering pulling it out, popping the cover and using my bench PSU to get the low cell/s up closer and reduce the imbalance, but...

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Did you cycle them as normal and just let them top balance during sunlight topup or did you leave them topped/charging like I am?

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Some updates in case anyone also runs into a huge balance difference like me. I ran my lab bench at 56.2V for like 18 hours, but at some point I actually took the battery and paralleled it with the rest of the pack so it would charge a bit faster, then continued with 56.2V. I think it hit real...

    Terrible Signature Solar / EG4 18Kpv Experience - Returning and Replaced with Sol-Ark 15k

Absolutely. I had an issue with a 6500ex and their support was subpar and the way I managed to get them to pay their attention was to complain on the forum. They asked me to do so much troubleshooting of my connections for a system that had been running non-stop for months. I'm also considered...

    EG4 Batteries (Alarm)

The backfeeding of the USB is actually somewhat of a problem but won't damage anything. It's also easy to fix by putting some electrical tape on the power pins of the USB A side. In my case, if I don't tape those, the PI won't boot up if connected to the inverters. Everytime I did a hard reboot...

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

That's a good idea. I isolated the battery but left it on comms while charging so I can monitor through SolarAssistant. Everything looking good up until now. Hope this battery gets itself back together after all this.

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Ok, I'm gonna charge it with my bench power supply and just leave it isolated from the pack for a few days. while the bench PSU handles top balancing. Will report back progress and thanks for all the help.

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

I just tried this today and my cell alarm triggered. I think I either have a super out of balance battery or a bad cell, and I'm leaning towards a bad cell. The cell undervoltage alarm triggered at total voltage of like 49.7. A few seconds later I got the SOC undervoltage alarm, but not sure if...

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Unless the current of the pack is measured per cell, then I don't see why it would scale with voltage. And I did see me SoC move on mine so it is detecting current changes, buy maybe it gets measure differently. Not sure. I also confirmed you don't get boot info if the BMS detects current, and...

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

Some extra info from my end. While I also have the issue where currents under 2 amps are not shown, my SOC% still updates. I wonder if maybe the BMS is actually sensitive up to 500ma but the reporting is not providing the info between 500 and 2000 mA. Also for mine it was exactly 2.0amps where...

    EG4 Lifepower4 48V Top Balancing Firmware.

How sure are you about not being able to get boot info? I've been struggling to get this update going and I think that might be why, but I think I was misled by the video linked earlier where he was able to get boot info but then shows a current of 6 amps going (his solar did also kick in right...

    One Mini-Split or Two?

I'm getting here a bit later and haven't read everything before, but I do know a bit about ACs. First of all, you absolutely want an inverted based AC. They will save you a significant amount of energy and provide a most consistent cooling experience. I read that you said that 240V ones are...

Options to mix and match LifePower4 with PowerPro batt with comms

I'm upgrading to an EG4 18K soon and want to get more battery capacity along the way. I'm considering getting an EG4 PowerPro but I know I will only be able to use communication on 1 of the 2. Right now I monitor my batteries via SolarAssistant by plugging the batteries in via the USB Cable...

    EG4 Communication Hub - Fuse

Reviving this late but what gauge is the wire? You can just get a fuse rated for the ampacity of the wire gauge it comes with.

Who is actually manufacturing this inverter?

My bad if I'm just stirring the pot here, but thought putting this out there could be useful. I honestly always had a good impression of Sol-Ark until reading this thread. I've gone more budget stuff myself because I enjoy tinkering a bit, but for people who asked me about solar I would...

    Signature Solar Tech Support...Ghosting?

Lol bro, I know my way around wires and electricity well enough to know what to do. This still doesn't change the fact that it's pretty reckless to ask of all that to even start debugging or getting a warranty claim through. I have no issue with having to read these values myself whenever I've...

    Signature Solar Tech Support...Ghosting?

Yeah, or have unshrouded probes cross accidentally. This is a good idea and would save me having to press the shutter button, but getting an angle where it was clear the probes were touching the PV terminals took some moving around because there's a few wires and what I think is a toroid on...

    Signature Solar Tech Support...Ghosting?

No, you should read what I wrote again. I am saying its reckless to ask someone to take pictures of their voltmeter while they're measuring these high voltages. To quote the exact wording I was sent in the email: This means they expect to you take a picture where its clear what the probes are...
