    Rural off grid Internet options

Different brand, but this is the solution that I use for internet. PoE LTE router/antenna mounted on the side of the house. It's literally pointed slightly upward into the woods and there's a hill between it and the tower. I get ~38 down and ~8 up. The provider is a small regional company. They...

    XW6848 charge rate limited

Breaker is 50a. 40a actual with built in derating. So that makes sense. Toaster oven is a Breville which specs out at 1800w but I think it only pulls that in pre heat mode.

    XW6848 charge rate limited

Interesting behavior with more house load. Before toaster oven: After toaster oven: Adding gen support: There are also two midnite classics providing some power to the battery which is why battery wattage is higher than the XW DC + the MPPT. Turning on the load (toaster), the...

    XW6848 charge rate limited

Temp usually 65-75. I'm just trying to figure out why bulk wattage is as low as it is. 140a and 48 nominal is 6720w which jives with the inverter being a 6800w inverter. But I only see ~5500w of charging max...which is probably fine since why run the inverter at it's max. But I'm trying to...

That's absorb voltage. It was charging at ~54v at the time of the screen shots.

    XW6848 charge rate limited

Seem to be stuck at DC Power = ~5500 . Maybe that is all I should expect with derating. Specs say 140a at 40-64v, 48v nominal. 140*48=6720w. but I get ~5500 or ~80%

Anybody using the newly released Batrium Toolkit3?

Looks like a new toolkit with mobile apps and web interface. I haven't found any dependency info yet so not sure it's usable for older WM4s, etc. https://wiki.batrium.com/en/toolkit3 Anybody try it yet?

    XW6848 charge rate limited

The batrium shunt issue is likely https://secondlifestorage.com/index.php?threads/batrium-shunt-inaccurate-current-measurment.8482/ I don't recall it happening with the solar charging. It seems to be only when charging via the XW.

    XW6848 charge rate limited

Hi, I'm trying to figure out why my charge rate seems to be capped at ~7000w. It's a Kohler 12 res. The AC 2 breaker is at 50a. AC 1 at 60 (but I'm off grid). Setting Maximum Charge Rate from 75% to 85% makes no difference. I see ~28a on both A2 L1 and AC2 L2. ~90a at the BMS. I haven't...

Batrium SOC resets to 100% SOC

Just came off a long stretch of no sun so lots of 15%<->60% back and forth. At 100% post balancing, the Batrium reads 90%. All other battery monitors read 100%. I could not reset the Batrium SoC. It would go through the motions with the "sent to unit" message, but no reset. I had to reboot the...

    Schneider InsightHome bug?

Magic smoke. They end up in some weird state where one unit feeds the other in a cycle. For me, it was always when using the generator so probably same thing when on grid. IIRC seemed to be a race condition unsolvable by software. Here's what it sounds like I went through a bunch (like 6 or 7)...

SanTan Solar Used Categories and Brands Discussion

I have 20 Suntech 285 used from Santan. In use for a bit over 2.5 years. No defects, except they came with what appears to be paint overspray on the panels. Like small hard droplets across all the panels. Seems weird, but I can't think of what else it could be. I tried to wash some of it off...

    Santan solar deal

These are 69x40. My 285's are 77x39. I have 20 on two racks. Replacing would be ~34 sq feet less and 1700w (30%) more. Tempted..

Batrium SOC resets to 100% SOC

I've never tested whether intermittent connectivity would cause a fault. I don't use the Batrium shunt for anything because it's almost always wrong. It drifts especially if it doesn't see 100% for a while. I've found it can read at much as 10% high when SoC gets down to the ~20% area. I have a...

Lux off grid - 36" range options

I've been using a Wolf stove off-grid for 23+ years. It's gas burners including oven. What I've noticed in new high end gas stoves is the top burners are not equivalent which is annoying for me. On my Wolf, which is ~25 years old, all top burners do super low simmer and high. Nowdays, they...

    Off grid diversion EV charging

thx. That's kinda the crux of it. I've got no way to tell the amount of power that is available. For on grid, you have clamps measuring sell/export, so you have that number. I was hoping there was more of a plug and play setup. So I'd likely have to write something to poll one of my midnite...

    Off grid diversion EV charging

I thought about the abrupt on/off being a problem, but was thinking it might be OK given the equipment must be OK with having a breaker trip. But also I was wondering if the equipment would even resume charging on a breaker reset. For phantom loads this seems to be the best way tho. On-grid...

    Off grid diversion EV charging

I'm looking at setting up EV charging from surplus solar. I can use aux from midnite classics or relays off the Batrium. Both can be set up to start/stop around float state, float voltages or SoC states. So I was looking at a level 2 charger and was thinking of using this or similar SSR...

Schneider AGS SOC generator off 50% limit

Does anybody know if the latest insight/XW pro firmware allows for the "State of Charge level to Stop Generator" option to be configured for less than 50% SOC? Insight v1.17 firmware indicates "Fixes AGS SOC trigger issue". I'm wondering if they may have fixed the 50% limit too. thx!

Does the Conext MPPT 60 ‘talks’ with the BMS (Pylontech emulation) via Insight Home?

Evidently there was a new firmware 1.18 release just a few days ago with "Support closed loop battery configuration pass through to MPPT". Not sure what that means...I suppose just configuration. https://solar.se.com/us/en/product/insighthome-and-insightfacility-edge-devices/#downloads

Does the Conext MPPT 60 ‘talks’ with the BMS (Pylontech emulation) via Insight Home?

Probably a significant design change for MPPT integration since the Conext Battery Monitor also isn't integrated with MPPT. The MPPT is standalone and has no exposure to SoC other than through the absorb and float set points. The Battery Monitor has no ability to toggle charger disable either...

    Strange cell behavior

This problem went away. It seems to happen when the bank stays below the balancing voltage for a long period. In this case about two weeks of cloudy weather with the SoC bouncing around 30-80%. Now that there is more (sun) frequent balancing, the problem has completely disappeared. I have 4...

    Batrium setup without shunt?

They stay close. Maybe off at most 2-3%. I find the batrium shuntmon to be worse than the others. I have the batrium, two Midnite solar Whizbangjrs, and the conext battery mon.

    Issues balancing with Batrium BMS

I see the same. One change I have made is to change absorb to be completely controlled by time. I disabled the end amps setting that ends absorb based on the number of amps when in absorb. So for example, if its set to 5 amps, absorb ends when there's 5 amps going into the battery. I've only...

BMS Recommendation with Schneider SW4048 & EVE LF280K

They do publish battery requirements for the XW. SW is probably similar in terms of start up. https://www.solar-electric.com/lib/wind-sun/Conext-XW-PRO-Li-ion-Battery-Solution-Guide.pdf That prebuilt system doesn't appear to have an insight device. Integration with the BMS occurs at the...

    Solar Living Mindset

IIRC, a 200a service isn't really a 200a service. Google says it's 160 continuous amps. So take that into consideration. But yeah, if you want to live off grid the first thing you do is conserve. If you have no idea on the amount of power you are using, you won't be able to properly design a...

    Issues balancing with Batrium BMS

I'm sure the block/long-mons aren't exact and multimeters can be off quite a bit. Fluke says DC accuracy of their multimeters ranges 0.5% to 0.025%. So ymmv. Anyway, I have a cell that seems to be the same behavior as your #48. It drops in voltage during absorb. I put a power supply on it...

    Strange cell behavior

Strangely, I've been trying to change the bypassvolt setting from 3.51 to 3.42. I get it to change in the software, use the passcode, and save but the WM4 still thinks it's 3.51. I restart the toolkit and it shows 3.42. So the setting sticks at least in the toolkit, but never makes it to the...

    Issues balancing with Batrium BMS

That's what I'd like to understand better. Later in absorption means lower amperage. Either the cells aren't seeing full amperage or the those cells need higher amperage to maintain the voltage. Could be a red herring inherent to having cells that are not perfectly matched.
