Would it be absurd to add some heavy duty waterproof 12v fans to cool underneath my panels on the roof in the summer ? I’d love feedback on if this is dumb or might actually do me some good. South Florida is getting to record temps and my panels I’m sure are super hot

Do these renogy people know anything or are they just Throwing out buzz words? Why would I need to balance two lithium batteries with BMS connected in parallel that are working fine ? Wouldn’t they have balanced themselves in the year of use lol

I disconnected each of them this morning and they were reading close to 17.5 / 18 each. Some a bit over.

So I tested this morning in early sun. I get 73 on one and 72 on another. Will test again at noon for hopefully higher readings

you’re right but I’ve managed to mount them in a fashion where they’re a bit higher than my maxair vent. That’s the only thing on the roof… I have a minisplit mounted on the rear. It’s tough to fit 800 watts on a 14’ roof man. The only way I could do it was like this

I have tried to say this 5 times now…….. the panels are wired properly and the voltage is correct until the moment the mppt is connected to the PV. No panel backwards. No shade. No bad bypass diode. Voltage is good …. Until MPPT I plugged in. Pappion … I repeat … voltage is good until mppt...

No shaded panel. No bad wiring. Voltage is 72 until the mppt kicks on and it drops it. Mppt max voltage is 100 so no clue really why this is happening

I go over what I’ve got in the post here but they’re 8 hqst 100watt panels the renogy /hqst brand that will recommends. 18 volts. None of the panels are shaded. Panels aren’t the issue anymore. Panels arrays read 72 volts then drop to 55 when I plug in the mppt

The voltage is 72 until I connect the mppt. Even with only the 400w array. I will contact renogy and find out what’s wrong

yes mike you are right I realized that when I saw it hovering around 500. I had another brain fart. The constant switching around of plans and new learning the last 24 hours spun me out a little but I understand how to handle everything now. I believe the 60amp will be a better choice and...

Update. May be an issue with the charge controller? As soon as I connect the controller to my panels it cuts the voltage from the 70 or so down to about 55. Not sure what the heck is going on. Is this the 13.6 charging the battery? So weird and confusing

Ok friends ! So I put my panels into a 4s 2p configuration and I may have messed something up again. I’m getting tons of solar amperage and the full 10amps that I should be (5 from each array) but for some reason my system only shows 55 volts. Shouldn’t it be showing closer to 72?

Thank you so much everyone for the input. I have two separate arrays but my renogy rover can handle 100 volts so I think I will do 2s4p and have an extra 10 awg wire up there for extra panels on my other controller or maybe a portable one that goes over my windshield.

No. They are two totally separate solar systems. They are never wired in series at any point. Voltage is added during a series connection.
