Wind Protection for Ground Mount PV Panels

Here's what I ended up doing for now. The intention is that after I add more slats a strong north gust's lifting force will be mitigated. From comments made here I conclude I should add concrete in the footings, and cross-brace. I can also replace the wood screws in the z-brackets with lag...

Wind Protection for Ground Mount PV Panels

All the connections are simple wood screws. That would be simple to retrofit with lag bolts + washers. Would some 90 deg. steel brackets help a bit, d'you think?

    Trouble Turning on System

The batteries are Renogy 48 V, 50 Ah LiFePo4. I tried leaving the BMSes unconnected, and then tried connecting the BMSes with an ethernet cable as shown in the manual. Wind Protection for Ground Mount PV Panels

I'm looking for thoughts and/or experiences protecting a PV ground mounted array from wind. I just built this array in the picture, and want to protect it from wind damage. We do get very high winds there in SE Arizona. I'm considering building a brick wall on the north side, from the same...

    PV Array Grounding Options

Thanks, this is very helpful. Turns out the panel frames are Al after all - being black they seemed like plastic. So I'll ground them together. A guy looking at my Cu wire going onto the concrete footing said my ground point should be in earth, not concrete. Is he right?

    PV Array Grounding Options

I have questions about grounding the PV array I'm doing. I'm so glad this forum is here for questions like these where hours of internet searching leave me drawing a blank, or exhausted. The site is remote and 9 hours from my house, so I'm planning each trip carefully. I've sunk posts for the...

New Here, Have a Cochise County Question

Very good, thanks. I started with my most pressing question, but this forum looks great for answers to many. I'll spend some time reading up on the forum to get answers before I ask more. About myself: I'm building off-grid in Cochise Co.. Currently I've built a 550 ft^2 garage which will be a...

New Here, Have a Cochise County Question

In Cochise County, if I do a DIY solar power system installation, can I have a licensed installer inspect and sign it off, or does the licensed installer have to literally do the work?
