    To disconnect panels or not?

Question for you experts- Rule of thumb is to disconnect panels before disconnecting batteries. how is a BMS that disconnects battery in a cold temp situation, over voltage etc any different than disconnecting batteries and leaving panels connected to do a battery swap?

    Battleborn batteries

Hi all, I’m looking to switch to Lifpo’s. mom torn between the valence batteries used or new battleborn s. Any suggestion between the 2? I tend to lean towards battleborn because of them being new and warranty. My other question is charging. Most of my charging is with solar and MPPT, what I...

    Batteries on a budget

Evening all- I currently have 3-27/100 ah flooded batteries from bi mart purchased about 9 months ago. They are not holding up very well. I’m looking to switch, I’ve always had good luck with les schwab rv deep cycles. Any other mild priced battery for a weekender that uses trailer about...

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

That’s not a bad idea on the timer. I think if I go lifpo I’ll mount in compartment. It would shorten up wire runs to inverter also. Just hate giving up space.

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

I was wondering about these, most are 15 watts each. Wonder how well it would actually work. Could easily run them off a thermostat

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

All, while I appreciate the ideas on how to reduce my consumption that’s not what I’m looking for. I don’t care so much about my consumption. If my batteries get low I’ll start a generator. We are part timers that boondock a lot while riding in the woods or at the coast. I am starting to...

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

Appreciate the input, usage isn’t my issue as what I have now works well. Especially after I install my additional panels and new controller. Currently I only have one 160 watt panel and a 30 amp PWm that came w the trailer. Winter time I do have to use generator a few times to top off but...

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

To answer the question about heating the batteries, I currently could not without a lot of modifications and custom boxes. I never thought about it till you mentioned it, with the lifpo I could mount in the compartment since they don’t gas and keep them above freezing.

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

They actually aren’t to bad overnight, I have to check it accurately once I get my monitor installed. I know the tv is minimal, blankets typically get turned off half way through the night. I think my furnace is biggest draw, I’m not worried about the usage or capacity so much. Just wanting...

    Lifpo4 questions for newbie

Morning all, I am reading through a lot of your threads on different lifpo batteries and the question came to mind for someone that camps all year in temps from 80-90 degrees and down into the 5-15 degree nights in winter would lifpo be a good choiceor not with the cold temp cutoff? The...

Battle born or others, what’s needed?

I am currently setup with 3 LA batteries in my toyhauler. I am adding more solar and new controller, I know I can change parameters on that for lifpo, what about the built in converter that trailer came with, charging while driving off vehicle? Do say the battle born batteries require a...

    Wire sizing question

Unfortunately I would need a new inverter or a 400 amp converter. My 2000 watt is a 12v

What can I expect to lose efficiency wise if I go to 24 v output and use a converter for my trailer loads?

    Wire sizing question

I shall find out. They are cheaper deep cycles, but if I kill them it is a forced upgrade that the wife can’t get mad about.

    Wire sizing question

Thanks for the info. We are in Oregon, all of our camping is from Southern Oregon to Northern Idaho. Most of the time our exposure has some trees and shading. I am installing the epever 40 amp. I believe it will be safe for my application. Excited to get it installed and working.

    Wire sizing question

So the 40 amps is the output of the controller and not the max input? Would I be better off having 2 parallel panels to my 30 pwm and a set of series to my new one to use all of my available output of the panels? part of me is thinking since they are flat mounted in a rv I’ll never see 56...

    Wire sizing question

Nature power inverter won’t run micro

Sadly they aren’t SLA, old style lead acid. Batteries are the next thing on my list after I get solar in and wife off my back. Batteries are brand new though and contacts are clean. They are cheap batteries for now as my originals that came with the trailer failed early from what I suspect...

Nature power inverter won’t run micro

    mixing solar panels???

I am adding to my solar on my trailer. I have ordered a 2nd 160 w panel to go with the one I currently have, I also ordered 2-180 w panels to wire to a new mppt controller. can I bypass my current pwm controller and run all 4 panels to my new controller to gain efficiency? I would like to do...

Nature power inverter won’t run micro

Hello, new here. I am not new to solar and rv systems but far from an expert. I have a toyhauler that came with a 160 watt panel, 30 amp pwm, I installed a 2000/4000 nature power pure sine wave inverter with 3 100 ah 12v flooded batteries. I know my panel is way under sized, we don’t run...
