BMS for 4x4 cranking & winchinh

The video shows winching currents typically seen are only 250a and seem to max out at 400a. He is using 2 75ah DCS lithium batteries in parallel and had no issues winching. Surely a 280ah battery could manage.

Yes i was about to paint the west side and also use some left over insulation BUT we have just sold the house. Back to the city and grid for me :(

    Quality vs China MPPT?

My solar equipment is in a 20 foot shipping container running North South. Its fine for part of the day but the afternoon sun beats down an entire side heating it up quite badly. It may only be 37 degrees outside but inside is much worse. The classic has been in there since 2012 with 3kw of...

    Quality vs China MPPT?

Ill have to have a look when i have some time. It definitely makes it easier having the ability to run higher voltages and cheaper cable wise.

    Quality vs China MPPT?

There are losses in transmission like you are talking about and there are losses within the unit itself. Midnite have a graph somewhere showing the efficiency of their controller with panel voltage V battery charge voltage.

    Quality vs China MPPT?

I have seen a video where someone has a few controllers hooked up to panels and they watch how fast the controller can sweep and track. Not sure if they had any chinese stuff but midnite did seem to perform well

    Quality vs China MPPT?

I have an American built Midnite classic. It's been solely charging my house batteries for the last 10 years (Australia). In the late afternoon the shipping container that houses all my gear gets to around 50 degrees C inside with no issues. It's extremely programable and support is great...

    Off-Grid-Garage - better than NETFLIX -- :-)

I think he is smarter than he lets on and goes into more detail than many channels. He also has at least 2 other youtube channels that i'm aware of. Busy man.

I'm just going by what Amy and i have discussed. I have paid the premium price.

    Luyuan / Amy - Type 66 & 71 in matched set?

I have never heard about any cheap cells. All quotes have been for matched cells.

    Luyuan / Amy - Type 66 & 71 in matched set?

I had to buy my cells in 3 separate orders due to extra import duties. When it came time to ship the 2nd order i was told the 1st batch was N but now will be K. Orders are spread by 2 weeks so would have happily waited that long to keep all the cells the same. 8xN cells don't have much use to me.

    Daly bms junk

This one is AU$400 plus AU$18 per cell monitor. Not cheap but the big Daly aren't cheap either. This also has seperate contactors for charge and discharge which i think is a must. Why would i ever want my inverter to switch off if a cell went high? I don't have a link to this one but this is...

    Daly bms junk

This is an Australian BMS that i will be using soon. Not as flash looking or anything but seems to fit the bill. These guys have been building batteries for a long time.

Using Equalize Function to Periodically “Full Charge”

The BMS i intend on buying says to do exactly what you are saying. If charging to 3.5v/cell set equalise to 3.55v/cell once a week.

Refrigerator real consumption versus energy guide estimate

In case anyone is interested our inverter panasonic draws about 60w when under a high load and does taper down to 30-40w and will also cut out when everything is stable. At 60w the maximum it can draw for 24hr is still only 1.44kwh Also the freezer is always very cold so no issues there. There...

Refrigerator real consumption versus energy guide estimate

Ours has 9 temp setting for the fridge and i originally set it 1/2 way but ended up using 7-8. Another thing is no matter what i do at that 7-9 the meat section is just below zero and freezes meat after a day or 2. Great place to store beer though.

Refrigerator real consumption versus energy guide estimate

Ours is in a typical double fridge sized spot in the kitchen but definitely not heaps of room as preferred. In summer our house is 29 degrees inside and the fridge runs flat out most of the time to keep up. Can be rather noisy too. I can't remember the model number but i checked a product...

Refrigerator real consumption versus energy guide estimate

We have a Panasonic inverter fridge. It uses around 1.2kwh/day but really struggles in the summer to keep the fridge cool and the temp inside varies a lot. We noticed milk and dairy not lasting on the usual midpoint setting. I measured the temp in a few locations and some spots were 8 degrees c...

Parallel Cell Capacity Balancing (PCCB) Procedure.

Very interesting to read your testing. I'm still unsure which way to go but you might have convinced me to just build one pack. How do the rack type batteries get away with the problems brought up in the Orion BMS article?
