    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Okay, scratch that. It turns out that the BT module has no memory, and the log is made on my phone whilst the app is open, which isn't very often. So the app history is basically useless.

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Thanks. This is the exact meter I've been looking at bit I was dubious as I hadn't heard many user examples of them. It looks like exactly what i need, and reading the instructions, it's also possible to integrate it with the smart control system that I'm developing. I'll make an order as soon...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Also a point to mention: the SOC (orange line) jumps around a fair bit on the top left. This is because, as I adjusted various settings, the SOC reading bounced around. Therefore, this chart is probably inaccurate. I'll have to wait until i get a full 100% SOC for any more accurate charts.

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Good to know. I've adjusted the SOC parameters as follows (i did it before your post) so will see how this goes. Yes. I'm working on it. This chat came from the BT module which isn't normally connected (i have a screen in the van and only use the BT for programming) - i have left the module...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

So I may have found it, There's this parameter which sets the battery to 0% at a predefined cell voltage. (2.9v) There is also voltage targets(for want of a better word) for 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and 20% So I assume that when the cell voltages hit one of those 'target' voltages, the SOC reading...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

That's my lfp battery. The tracker also shows 'main battery' which is the engine battery. What should the discharged voltage be? If you are referring to the right hand side, ignore that. That is the solar coming in in the early hours, but not being strong enough to charge the battery (but it...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

SOC update: We used loads of power last night and took the battery from 60% down to 22% when we went to bed at around midnight. I didn't get a cell range reading at 22% unfortunately. When we woke up around 7am, the bms was showing 0% and had disconnected discharging. My tracker gives me...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Thanks. So it sounds like my mains and Dc-Dc charger are set too high at 14.2v then? As for the solar, I'll have to re evaluate it all when i can connect the laptop as I didn't think that lfp used 'boost' charging modes.

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

3270-3276 at 90%. Thanks. When I'm next with my download lead I'll tweak my settings and report back. I have never noticed the resting voltage above 13.5v, even when using the mains or the dc-dc charger which both charge at 14.2v, but I'll double check next time. I'll be doing a lot of driving...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

3266-3274 at 40% SOC. (taken straight after a 100a load which is I think why there's a big cell difference) 3219-3223 at 37% SOC (charging at 3a) 3027-3052 at 42% SOC with a 90a load.

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Currently 3277-3282 at 50% SOC. I'll be full soon so will update when charged. I'm trying to stay alive 50% on the road but will update when it drops. Thanks :)

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Hey all, sorry for my silence! I've been without internet. I'll reply below. Thanks for your help! What should the resting voltage be? it tends to be around 13v. Currently the BMS monitor screen shows 13.05V with a load of 6.2A and a 71% SOC The BMS screen stayed on and working the whole time...

    DIY 200ah LFP underperforming

Hi, I built a 200ah LFP battery at the start of the year (see other post on here) and it's been performing pretty well. It lives in my camper and it's recharged by 350w solar and a 30a dc-dc charger. It has a constant load of around 2a as well as the fridge which pulls an additional 5a for a...

    JBD Bms Display

Thanks. Unfortunately that won't work for me as i need one that can interface with other systems, or at least show history. I'll keep that in mind for other projects though.

    JBD Bms Display

Interesting. I bought the JBD BMS with screen specifically because I thought the bms must have the most reliable SOC indication. And I must say it's been pretty good for me! however I'm now looking at building my own electrical control system, incorporating SOC, and reading the data from the...

DIY Flight case style battery box build

I left the original plate on and I only added a second thin plate on top of it. The screws were long enough to go through both pieces. Thanks, it took me ages to come up with a solution I was happy with. I really wasn't keen on most of the other BMS mounting options I've seen..

Yeah it's the UART display for the BMS. I've worked out how to have two displays connected to one BMS so I'll have one in the front and rear of the van :)

DIY Flight case style battery box build

I added an RJ45 connector to the battery which allows me to connect my monitor screen(s) and/or Bluetooth module to adjust the settings. I wanted it to be quick release so that i can easily move the battery if needed.

DIY Flight case style battery box build

Thank you. The temp has been absolutely fine with constant use after this post. It will live in my van and only ever be moved in exceptional circumstances so the feet do just fine, but I agree that wheels would be good for a portable battery.

Lfp volt drop at high load

Hi, I've recently finished building a 200ah battery. It's a 12v battery in 4s config. I tested an induction hob via an inverter which worked, but I noticed the cells dropped by around 0.3v under load (it was around 100a) - is this normal or have I done something wrong? Thanks in advance...

DIY Flight case style battery box build

Well, It's finished! (pretty much) M6 threaded bar through some 20mm plastic conduit used as a stopper for the cells (not that they need it as they're very tight in the enclosure) Cells connected, active balancer fitted and wired, BMS monitoring cables connected (Note: the metal you see at...

DIY Flight case style battery box build

Hello! I thought it's about time I give something back to the forum. I searched high and low for DIY battery boxes, but couldn't really find anything I liked. I'm in the process of making my own. in the style of a flight case. I've gone for the rugged industrial look. I'm no carpenter or...

    Top charging from bench PSU

I've got 4 of these cells which i believe need to be top charged to 3.6v before I build my pack. I set this PSU to 3.6v and connected to the first cell over 14 hours ago. When first connected, the voltage showed 3.4v, rising to 3.5v after about an hour. I just want to double check that I'm...

    4S heater location

Hey folks! I'm planning to build a box for these LFP cells tomorrow. I'll be building it out of plywood. The BMS comes with a single heater. where is the best place to mount it? It seems like all my options will heat one cell more than the rest or heat things unevenly. I'm wondering if some...

Positive shunt for monitoring alternator output?

Hello, I'm l to add an amperage monitor to my alternator. Reason being is that there's a chance it could be overpowered if several rare conditions are true, and I'd like to monitor this and switch accessories off whilst driving if it happens (a monitor with a relay or buzzer that will trigger at...

    DIY 4S LFP Battery Enclosure

The foam used would be the dense white stuff often used in packaging and is only thin so I Don't think there'll be an issue. do the cells need to be tightly compressed? I'd assumed that pressure on the cell walls was a bad thing hence thinking of the padding between. Thank you :)

    DIY 4S LFP Battery Enclosure

Hello again! I've searched the forum but can't really find an answer. I've got 4x 3v cells with dimensions of 30x20x8cm HxWxD Per cell. Giving me a total pack dimension of 30x20x42 (Allowing for some foam between cells) I'd really like to enclose the cells and BMS within an enclosure. I had...

Smart BMS with Wall mounted monitor?

So I ended up going for a JBD BMS and noticed they have a touch screen interface which is pretty cheap. I've bought it to see what it's like and will report here. the Victron 712 will be my second choice if this isn't great.

12V 4s Separate port smart BMS recommendations?

Hi All, I know this has been asked a thousand times but I've had a look through previous posts and can't find what I'm looking for. I'm planning to build a 200ah 4S pack. I already have 4x cells and am now looking for a BMS. Daly seem popular but I've also seen/heard some bad things about...

Do I really need a DC-DC or can I go with a high power alternator?

This was my conclusion too. the more I think about it, a PWM controller is basically just a transistor switching on/off. There is nothing to limit current (as mentioned above) so I don't think it would be a good idea. if the alternator could give 80A and the battery could draw 100A, but the PWM...
