    24v system out of balanced

Hi rmaddy, I’m encountering an issue. Among the 4 battle born batteries, one cannot be charged above 13.8. I’ve tried several times so far. According to BB tech, either i need to discharge it down and recharge it back up to see what will happen or ship it back for them to take a look. What...

    24v system out of balanced

Thanks! I will go ahead and order a Victron Energy Blue Smart IP65 12-Volt 7 amp Battery Charger. Do I need to fully drain the batteries before using the charger? If yes what will be the desired voltage or other measurements I’m looking for before going ahead with the recharge?

    24v system out of balanced

I have 4 battle born 12v 100ah batteries in 2p2s 24v configuration. Previously I think I over-discharged them so their voltages were imbalanced. So I used a regular booster 12v charger (not designed for lifepo4) to charged each battery up to around 12.74v and then re-wired them to the solar...

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

So all voltages are the same which is good news. But why are the voltages dropping? Around 2:50pm each was measured at 13.34 but now 4:15pm they are all 13.31. And yes I’m still charging them with the panels but its overcast again today so its about 50-100w. And is fully charged voltage 14.4?

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

The system is fired up! All four batteries started around 12.70v. Since today is overcast the panels are charging very slowly. After about an hour, the voltages for four batteries are 12.97, 12.94, 12.94 and 12.92. So how do I proceed? Thanks.

Ok I’m just going to do it like in these photo without the car battery. Btw I just measured voltages for all batteries again they are 10.64, 11.44, 11.50 and 12.63. So I’m gonna charge the first 3 individually to around 12.62-12.64 then fire the 2s2p up again. Let me know if you see any...

Sorry i guess i missed this post. I have attached the jump start diagram. Let me know if you see any issues I don’t wanna destroy my batteries. Also I remember two of four batteries are above 11vol, should i still charge them?

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

Wait i thought i need to charge all of them and balance them to 14.4v or am i just trying to jump start the controller? My friend has a 12v charger i will swing by when I’m heading home. If just to jump start do i just keep the current 2p2s wiring going and connect the 12v charger clamps to...

I think I’m gonna just order one on Amazon. Anything i need to watch out when charging them? What will be optimum voltage level? I will get back to you once balanced

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

I think I screwed up. I just checked the voltage of my 4 battle borns. Each has a different voltages. They are from about 7, 8, 11 and 12 vol. what to do now?

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

Actually i drained the battery last night after watching Will’s video to zero set the battery monitor. Maybe i drained ithem too much because the inverter is not turning on as well. Any way to fix? Or any way to jump start the system? Because yesterday after i’d wired everything the...

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

Yesterday it was finally charging but right now 9am in Los Angeles with sun out it’s not charging at all. The lights on the controller are off and the MT-50 remote is off too. Last night even after 5pm when there was no sunlight still a little bit of charge coming in. Do you know what’s...

Hi rmaddy, Im trying to optimize the epever mppt 40a solar controller right now with my battle borns. I’ve been watching Will’s video (link shown below) but its only for a 12v battle born. Should i just select “sealed” or “user”. And if select “user” below are the changes he’s made for one...

Questions about setting up my solar panel array

    1. Which elements could damage the panels when they are installed on the top of the roof? In LA, the one thing that I can think of will be hail. The occasional hail comes and goes too quickly for me to react. I know you may not have personal experience handling HQST solar panels so it's...

Questions about setting up my solar panel array

Since according to you if I do a 4s2p or 6s2p configuration, I don't need a combiner box I assume the length will be from the y connectors to the solar controller (with the PV breaker in between). My current estimate is from 45 to 50 ft in total length. Will that be ok or too much power lost...

Questions about setting up my solar panel array

Hi rmaddy, Sorry to bother you again. I got a couple more questions so I can understand the fundamentals correctly if you don't mind. 1. For 12 panels in 6S2P, my calculation is for Vol it's 129.6 (21.6voc x 6) which is below 150v max PV input. For Amp it's amp it's 11.12 (5.56A x 2)...

Hi, Thanks for the feedback! First of all just letting you know I'm very new to this so if I say something silly feel free to correct me. Btw I'm building a 24v system. Below are my answers and questions. why is it redundant to have fuse and breaker on the positive side? What will be a...

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

I use a 40A fuse. The wires from both the positive and negative busbars to the fuse are 10AWG. From the fuse to the converter I used the wires that comes with the device, by looking at the attached photo ( I compared it with 10AWG next to it), it looks like it's about 12AWG. What do think I...

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

Why did you specifically point out that this DC-DC converter requires a fuse instead of breaker? I normally prefer breakers instead of fuses just to avoid hassles in the future such keeping spare fuses. But if there is a legitimate reason I won't mind at all.

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

ok! Can you recommend an economical battery monitor? For busbar online I saw the amperage number shown below, does it mean 150 AC or DC? RANGE FOR USE---- Max voltage: 48VDC. Max continuous amperage: 150ADC. Max intermittent: 20 A per connection (less than 1 minute).

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

Why will a 40A fuse be ok with 10AWG? I thought the main point of having a fuse or breaker is to protect the cable. If a 10AWG cable can only handle up to 30A, wouldn't the cable be melting before triggering the 40A fuse or breaker or it can handle 40A for short period of time? I'm getting...

    My 24v 24kw Blueprint

I'm glad you've mentioned that! It was on my mind for a while but I told myself what do I know and I didn't want to ask too many stupid questions haha. I definitely going to get a positive bus bar. I only have 10AWG wire, by looking at the chart it will only cover up to 30A, should that be...
