    Solis inverter comms failure

😁 I can definitely relate!! I now have two DIY batteries that I'm managing (one is 200 miles away, the other a 30 second walk to the attic)

JKBMS Reports Sporadic "Crazy" Voltages on a Couple of Cells....

Yes, I've been up to the battery on such occasions to check something wasn't amiss, armed with a DVM, and the readings of the cells that had dodgyBT-recorded phantom values, have consistently ended up measuring within a few mV of neighbouring cells' values when read via the DVM, so I know that...

Yes, wired correctly - mis-reporting on my part :)

JKBMS Reports Sporadic "Crazy" Voltages on a Couple of Cells....

https://github.com/fl4p/batmon-ha Bluetooth connection from the JKBMS to a Raspberry Pi running Batmon & HA, that's inside the battery enclosure. Batmon then sends the data via MQTT to my main mini PC running HA.

JKBMS Reports Sporadic "Crazy" Voltages on a Couple of Cells....

Interestingly not - does make me wonder if it's possibly even a Bluetooth issue (since that datalogged info is being transmitted from the BMS to the Raspberry Pi running Batmon (see my next reply for details) - but then, I don't think you'd ever get a high value being transmitted for more than a...

JKBMS Reports Sporadic "Crazy" Voltages on a Couple of Cells....

Brilliantly explained, thanks! I'll carve out some time on an evening to carefully tighten all that can be accordingly!

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Alrighty - I upped the max charge current to 62A from within config.h, but it's still capped out at around 50/51A for some reason, ever after reflashing.... & I've set the values to 62A for the custom battery setup I'm using with the Solis inverter (3.6kW H 48 blah model). Any ideas what might...

JKBMS Reports Sporadic "Crazy" Voltages on a Couple of Cells....

You can see this happening here: ...this has been sporadically happening over the last 7 months, ever since I installed the JKBMS. ...in the background of the screenshot, you can see that things have calmed down, but there are these noisy spikes, and sometimes way-off voltage values, that...

Successfully flashed - waited 'til after sunset to minimise any impact (lots of cooking done here via the battery today!)

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Fab - thanks SeaGal; found it here (running Linux): /tmp/arduino-sketch-1ED67AF5FD866C6B3CE6ED8D1F47F250/vedirect.ino.bin ...interestingly, there's another file called: /tmp/arduino-sketch-1ED67AF5FD866C6B3CE6ED8D1F47F250/vedirect.ino.partitions.bin (but I'll use the first one to do the OTA...

Just a quickie @sijones2010 - re wifi/OTA updates; is the .elf file that's the compiled binary output? (Still using the Arduino IDE here atm, so I get an output something like: vedirect.ino.elf )

Help us design a rack-mounted system for the UK

Hmm - I purchased 16 EVE LF280K cells from Fogstar a while back for my dad's DIY battery. Wondering if Fogstar is insterested in offering a DIY kit solutions for the case (not that I need a case as such, but I'm sure the Fogstar solution would be more robust that my DIY jobby!)

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Fab! Might be a while before I get the chance with a Growatt, as it'll be once an installer has fitted my dad's place (I'm building the same battery for him as mine, which has been working brilliantly with your code since it was commissioned last November)

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Any thoughts on how the code might play with a Growatt (SPH series probably) hybrid inverter? ...I guess it should work if the Pylontech protocol option is working well?

    Modbus Addresses Solis RAI-3K-48ES-5G

Check out lines 162 to 178: https://github.com/dezfutak/thediybattery/blob/main/solis_5g_modbus_charge.py ....I calculate it from string1 & 2 current and voltage values. EDIT: or you can use register 33058 (it's an unsigned 32 bit number)

Spiky/Sporadic Voltage Values on Cell 1 (Connection Issue or Runaway Cell??)

*Update*: I've just measured the BMS sensor to BMS sensor lead voltages directly for all 16 cells, and they're ALL agreeing with each other (including cell 1!), within 3 mV of each other, so my conclusion is that the JKBMS isn't telling the truth; I kind of knew that already, as the JK BMS SOC...

Spiky/Sporadic Voltage Values on Cell 1 (Connection Issue or Runaway Cell??)

Great idea - will give that a go. I might also just re-check the connections before doing that too, just in case Cell 1's BMS lead or busbar connections aren't sufficiently tight. (I torqued the cell/bus connections to 5NM, but the BMS leads had to be hand-tightened, so human error on that front...

Spiky/Sporadic Voltage Values on Cell 1 (Connection Issue or Runaway Cell??)

I've just noticed that cell1 in my DIY Battery is not stable compared to the other cells - it seems be to randomly shooting up, and then going back to a normal operating range, even when under load, as you can see from the attached images. I'm currently diving in to other related threads where...

Biased suggestions: 1) Enable an option for Seplos (for those who don't want active balancing/don't want to tinker) or JKBMS (for those that do want active balancing & who have experience in modding stuff (<= all mods void warranty etc)). 2) DIY Kit option in addition to Done-For-You with a...

100Ah cells & Seplos BMS? (I know, I probably shouldn't be asking as still in development). Know how it feels re the insane amount of time - always more challenging when there's already too many other things going on!!

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

These are my thoughts so far (with some gaps in my knowledge, obviously - any thoughts on the bit I'm not sure about?): 1) Battery OVV_Pro: 16 x 3.55 ?? 2) Battery UNV_Pro: 16 x 2.95 ?? 3) Floating Voltage: Should this be, say 3.50 x 16 ?? 4) Equalizing Voltage: Not needed for LiFEPO4 - any...

    Solis 5G Hybrid Inverter Settings

You could also try specifying a discharge period if you're using the system entirely off-grid, which in your case might possibly be relevant (not relevant in my case, so I deleted the example discharge time period in this photo):

+1 for JK BMS - I'm using this integration which has a few additions that enable the JKBMS to "talk" in Pylontech's CANBUS protocol, and so far it's been brilliant ( ? the fact that the JKBMS has 2.0A active balancing, which is why I'm glad I went for it over the Seplos BMS)...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

@uksa007 suggestion: Add a hardware list plus Amazon affiliate links to https://github.com/Uksa007/esphome-jk-bms-can/blob/main/README.md ...you've put sweat equity into this, so another way people can thank you is via purchasing through your Amazon link(s).
