How to run a 2900 sqft all electric home from 6000 watts of PV

My family would be more at a risk of leaving had I wasted money on a system that over produces 8 months of the year just to brag that my utility bill is near zero during a few hot months. IMNSHO

How to run a 2900 sqft all electric home from 6000 watts of PV

I checked out the battery and what I found weird is the lifespan is “5-10 years”. What does that mean? Eg4 power pro by contrast has a 8000 charge cycle time. That means if you charge it every day it’s lifespan is 20 years. what am I missing on the Amp Inc battery you posted? Am I reading this...

    It's Working!!! Sol-Ark 15K, 33.52kW with 67 Panels AC+DC PV, 25kW SOK Batteries - Photo Diary

Just for clarity (I am a noobie) can you get power out of the gen input, and through your regular pv input at the same time? Is the setting gen peak shaving?

    It's Working!!! Sol-Ark 15K, 33.52kW with 67 Panels AC+DC PV, 25kW SOK Batteries - Photo Diary

Got it. I have the same inverter and was wondering about ways to use the gen input/output. Currently my current panel array is only 6k but looking to upgrade to more panels and more batteries.

Are you AC coupling through the gen input or through the grid? What is the benefit you were looking for in AC coupling?

How to run a 2900 sqft all electric home from 6000 watts of PV

While I did work with an installer, for the most part he just did the labor and I bought the parts. The cost of large gauge wiring in particular surprised me at how expensive it was!

How to run a 2900 sqft all electric home from 6000 watts of PV

The panels aren’t really what I am waiting to drop, but instead the batteries. My interconnection agreement is a topic for another post. It is a saga that has been on going since last October. I agree, summer will be a different story. I will try and update this post after a couple hot months!

How to run a 2900 sqft all electric home from 6000 watts of PV

After witnessing power grid failures in Texas and California, and because I live in a rural area and on a well, I wanted to design a system to run our basics should we suffer a similar fate. We define the basics (critical loads) as the well, ceiling fans, and refrigerators. In my quest to figure...

Does anyone know of a thermostat that can act as a quasi-load controller?

Ah, that I can do. Do you happen to know where to get plans for that?

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

I have been going back and forth with my utility since October of last year. My experienced installer submitted the interconnection request along with all of the documentation. Every three weeks we get a rejection notice, we correct exactly what they are asking for, and re-submit. Then we wait...

Does anyone know of a thermostat that can act as a quasi-load controller?

Sounds simple but probably not a project I am comfortable doing as I am not super comfortable messing with 240v especially when it involves expensive HVAC equipment. I did think about using a Home Assist type of hub, so that might be an option but was hoping someone else had faced this issue and...

Does anyone know of a thermostat that can act as a quasi-load controller?

I have two 3-ton HVAC units on my house. Both have a micro air easy start, but I want to employ logic that if one of the HVAC units is running, the other one will wait to run until the first one cycles off and vice versus. I have simple time-based programmable thermostats now and am sort of...

Solark 15K Using 2 Different Types of Batteries at once

My plan was just to parallel the two new eg4 pro’s together and then come off one of them into the inverter, but instead i think you are saying I should use a bus bar to parallel them together and then use the same wire length I used from the original battery array to go from the bus bar to the...

Solark 15K Using 2 Different Types of Batteries at once

So, just to be clear, even though I am going into two different battery terminals and each battery bank is a different size, because they are the same chemistry the Soler will charge them the same? Is that correct?

Solark 15K Using 2 Different Types of Batteries at once

Noobie Q: I have a Solark 15K, currently powered with only 6K of PV, and charging 25Kw worth of EG4 Lifepo4 Batteries. I am in AZ with a large all electric home (two 3 ton HVAC (Both with MicroAir easy starts), Oven, stove, well pump, booster pump, 40,000 gallon swimming pool, separate spa...

    Growatt 2.2kW 3HP Solar Pump Inverter l Water Pump Inverter | Grid-Assisted | SPI 2200TL2-HV

Hi 1201, Thank you for the input! Currently I have twenty-two REC 260w panels in three strings feeding the inverter. There appears to be three more PV inputs. So, would I take the 400w panels in just one string into the inverter or should I break it up into three separate strings? Are there...

    Growatt 2.2kW 3HP Solar Pump Inverter l Water Pump Inverter | Grid-Assisted | SPI 2200TL2-HV

So your inverter supports all the loads from pv and battery and when battery gets low then the power comes from the grid? - Yes that is correct. Since you are already connected can you find the labor and electrician to add the additional panels for less? 6kw of panels is about $1800, and...

    Growatt 2.2kW 3HP Solar Pump Inverter l Water Pump Inverter | Grid-Assisted | SPI 2200TL2-HV

Hi OzSolar, I noticed that myself as I initially had my pump turned all the way up to the max. In 8 hours of pumping I was consuming (this time of year) about six hours direct from PV and then about two hours from the battery. Xilla

    Growatt 2.2kW 3HP Solar Pump Inverter l Water Pump Inverter | Grid-Assisted | SPI 2200TL2-HV

One more thing ... I have a quote from my solar installer to add another 6k worth of panels to my Solark system. He wants $11,400. I would also want to couple that with another 20k worth of batteries. All in, it would cost me $17k-ish. The Growatt inverter is $400 delivered and I can but cheap...
