Need to add Critical Load Panel

Getting ready to do this work and rethinking use of gutter. Neutrals are also current carrying conductors. Moving 10 circuited will be 20 conductors between old and new panel. Think I may just nipple the recessed panels together and call it a day. Will ‘plumb’ for new AC OUT of main panel to...

    Forum Technical Issue?

I can’t search or see my previously posted content to get to a specific thread. I just get these errors. Tried both on and off WiFi.

Need to add Critical Load Panel

Thanks @HighTechLab . This house is 25 years old and panel never touched so by extending to sub, now need to look across all circuits and figure out which ones need gfci and/or arc fault. Ugh.

Need to add Critical Load Panel

I plan on extending hot and neutrals for each circuit. Leverage busbar like Dexter did for ground. Reading further about derating: If more than 3 current carrying conductors in more than 24" of conduit, need to derate If using a METAL gutter/trough, need to derate AFTER more than 30 current...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

@HighTechLab Do you happen to have the NEC code reference for this. I'll probably have 10 runs of 12/2 swinging over as well as the feeder, probably more than 24" based on panel placement. Is it: Table 310.15(B)(3)(a)

Need to add Critical Load Panel

@HighTechLab, looks like you just had a ground bar in the trough for all the Romex runs and a single run down to panel. Inspector did't have an issue with that?

Need to add Critical Load Panel

Just watched a video from @HighTechLab. He did something similar to extend his romex during his home Solark install. Looks like he extended from romex to thhn then down the flex conduit to panel. He went top to down. I’m going opposite direction. I’ll cut out Sheetrock under panel, pull out...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

Nope. Here they are after I took that blank plate off. No wiggle room at all. Counted 17 romex coming up center large knockout on panel. All jammed through the lower wall plate Still considering 6x6x36 wire trough under both panels. Could ‘fix’ some of that center knockout cram issue on main...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

The 10 circuits I want to move to CL Panel have about 5” of romex jacket on them between bottom of panel and bottom wall plate(red line) Won’t be enough to swing over. There is only one wire out of the top of the panel going to a sub panel upstairs. So my only options would be to mount a...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

Think I’m going to just drill another hole through the stud and have two nipples between the panels. This TS one looks to be 1” and I can use a 1.5” or so at the top. Use THHN to extend main panel circuits to sub panel and then the feeder. Messing with a trough under the panels seems to be a...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

@billvon So I can splice romex to romex in a 6”x6”x36” wireway/trough going under the panels and terminate in sub panel. I bet I have 15 romex wires coming up the large center hole in the main panel today, not sure why I would need to punch out a hole in the back of the trough for each or two...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

@billvon So for #1, I can splice romex to romex in the wireway and bring it to second panel. If so this is great, have about 100 feet of both 12 and 14awg laying around. Assume a 2” knockout for each panel in rear of wireway would suffice for all the romex and thhn for feeder. Or are you just...

Need to add Critical Load Panel

Been skating by with a full main panel and manual transfer switch for inverter for a while now. Well we bought a PHEV and now need to add a panel for additional circuit(s), want to anyway for when I upgrade my inverter here. Really like the 6000xp at my cabin but will need bigger here. Anyway...

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

My charge voltage is 55.6v but SOC is hitting 100% before that so balancing doesn’t occur (luckily my pack is balanced to .005v).

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Thanks @sijones2010. I’m sticking with the non-testing branch. It has worked well for over a month for me. @ScrotusGobbleBottom and I are discussing separately the voltage/SOC drift that comes out of the shunt as once the inverter sees 100% it disables charging and I’m not getting balancing...

You can download VS Code for Linux for this project.

Does anyone know of a ChatGPT/LLM integration with forums?

If you have a high end gaming rig with a Nvidia RTX card, there is a local version of AI you can install and all data is kept local. I haven’t tried it yet but heard it works pretty well, I saw where you could point it at a site with content and it will summarize.

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

What i really like is this page. I had to manually update code, build, deploy before to change the allowed charging rate based on SOC (wanted more time for batteries to balance). This makes it SO MUCH EASIER by using divider in UI.

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Ok, finally got it via standalone setup. Going to replace ESP32 chip in my current setup and see how this works. Had to do a ESP clean reset on chip to get it to work. This is truly awesome.

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

So two things. First, you can’t flash that test branch on a Mac. One of the modules simply won’t compile. Second, using an old PC takes forever to compile this, but works. Going to mess with this branch a little more this week, still have original code base going for weeks with shunt and inverter.

lol. Well shit, that’s why. You used the testing branch with the Web UI. Doing that now on my spare ESP32.

@ScrotusGobbleBottom Please confirm if these steps are the same as yours: Download and install Visual Studio Code Clone this repository in VS Code: https://github.com/sijones/VE.DirectMQTTCANBUS Once dependancies are downloaded, flash by clicking build then upload in VS Code (no tweaks to code...

Well I give up. Tired in a windows machine and took the exact steps you did with raw clone from GitHub. There is no WiFi AP to connect to via WiFi from computer or phone. Only way for me to config WiFi is in code then flash but don’t get those cool screens you showed.

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Tried another esp32, simply flashed without modifying any Victron-CAN code. Do not see any AP WiFi SID from phone or computer to use. Might try to do this on a PC, maybe a library or something isn’t installing properly. I think it’s cool you can see that info which is why I want it. lol...

No, I configured the config.h to connect to my network WiFi so it can connect with my HA MQTT broker. Didn’t not do that step, config WiFi? You have the same esp32 I do.

DIY Battery via Smart shunt to inverter integration (Solis etc)

Well just to make sure it was clean, setup a new profile on computer, installed visual studio code, cloned repo, updated config and flashed. Same result. Controls inverter just fine but no web page from ESP. I wonder if it’s my board. Do you mind linking the esp32 module your purchased...

yup, funny similar subnet here. Thing pings all day, reports CAN messages find to inverter, just no webpage. Maybe I redo it all from scratch, blow away current repository, redownload and flash.

Did you adjust any settings our just use the project build and modified the config.h? Not sure how to adjust the ESP as an AP or not. It is definitely registered with and IP on my network just like my other devices.

@ScrotusGobbleBottom , can't get a web page. I know I have the right IP address. This is all I get in a browser: Not found: / Is there an <ipadress>/'something' for the URI? I even refreshed with no luck via usb and visual studio code. How are you flashing and are you using visual studio...

Odd, I can't get that to come up. I am simply typing the IP address in my browser and no luck. Now I must figure this out!

@ScrotusGobbleBottom Wait. I didn’t know you can log into it over WiFi and change things. How the heck do you do it??? I thought Wi-Fi was there only for getting mqqt messages sent and data to home assistant.

We’re up at our cabin now, I can try compiling and deploying with wrong WiFi, see what happens. Can’t get to this till tomorrow.
