Have you checked out this page? It looks like Victron supplies an app which includes a cable gauge calculator. I haven’t used it but it might be what you are after… https://www.victronenergy.com/blog/2014/10/02/victron-toolkit-a-new-app-for-android-and-iphone-users/

    Electric Sailboat Conversion

Hi! I am doing a complete repower of a 1953 wood boat with Electric Yacht motors as well! More info here: ‘Advice Building an electric boat' https://diysolarforum.com/threads/advice-building-an-electric-boat.38409/ It looks like maybe you are working with PYS in BC? If not you might want to...

    Fire suppression

Wow great point I didn't even think about the temp vs flames distinction. @David Collins Elide seems to activate after 3-5 seconds of flames. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Also I think @Will Prowse pointed out in this thread that maybe other chemistries reignite but LFP would not: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/can-lifepo4-batteries-combust-in-thermal-runaway-event.999/post-599432

Just an update. I switched to 48V motors, Victron Inverters, and am using Orion 2 BMS which "talks to" the Victron.

Can LiFePO4 Batteries Combust in Thermal Runaway Event?

I 100% agree with you. I was very surprised that a BATTERY MAKER would use the term so loosely when it really means something different!

Can LiFePO4 Batteries Combust in Thermal Runaway Event?

@Will Prowse Thanks for everything you do! You are an amazing resource to me! What do you make of this statement from Relion: "In extremely rare critical failure scenarios (i.e. severe physical damage from a crash or abuse of the battery in extreme applications for which it was not intended)...

    Fire suppression

Hi everyone. Just want to throw out an idea and see if it helps. I am building an electric boat with 4 sets of LFP batteries (150kW). My understanding is that the LFPs don’t suffer thermal runaway ON THEIR OWN but in a mobile application like mine I worry about scenarios where the batteries...

Can LiFePO4 Batteries Combust in Thermal Runaway Event?

@Will Prowse Could you clarify why the battery behavior in the “spearing” video isn’t an exothermic reaction resulting in combustion? It doesn’t seem like the spear provided a spark. It looks like a second major puncture resulted in a fire, no?

    Advice Building an electric boat

That is super helpful thanks. Would an installer know this or is there a vendor who could put that system together on paper for me? Do you suggest just building my own batteries from cells or is there a good battery brand which works with these BMSs but doesn’t have a massive premium? Thanks!

    Advice Building an electric boat

Hi all! Newbie here so forgive me for my inevitable mistakes. I have searched the forum for similar threads but might have missed them so I am taking the plunge and posting my own question. I am converting a 1953 wood boat (42' long, 25,000lbs) into an all electric boat. Don't ask me why...

    Cooling for diy LFP pack?

As a commenter recently said in a great YT video on this subject, ambient heat has a large impact on cycle life so there is an ROI in keeping the pack cool. I am in the process of building a large pack for my all electric boat (1200Ah @ 108v using 144 EVE 302s). I have successfully used a...
